in the last year i think i've left three cal hats on planes -- wear them in the airport, take them off on the plane because it's too hot, drop them once i fall asleep
one of them was a wool cal hat that was pretty great and i haven't found again
I've done that at least a couple of times. I started putting them in the seatback pocket so I always see it. Although I did leave a cheap tablet in one of them.
I bought a white script Cal hat with the bear claw logo on the back way back in 2009 for only $5 (maybe New Era was clearing them out--but I couldn't pass up that deal). It's comfy and breathes very well, so it's my go-to hat for sports events, especially if it's hot and/or I'll be in the sun.
I just bought a new Cal cap yesterday whilst purchasing a stupid yellow Cal shirt that I will literally wear maybe once for this GOLD out tomorrow. It’s a fitted blue number, with a Golden Bear on the back. I like it Lloyd Christmas-style….(A lot)
My favorite cap is a snapback mesh trucker cap from a local farm supply store. I used to be snobby about meshback caps as I thought they looked bad. Now I dig that they are the right amount of sun-out-of-my-eyes, keep my head cool, SPF-for-my-bald-spot, and the standard cover for inconsistent personal grooming practices.
Same. I have to replace it every 2-3 years because I use it so much. It has to be a fitted cap otherwise the hair sticking out of an adjustable cap makes me look like a duck.
i am on 3rd iteration of the same "California Golden Bears" cap. it is nicely faded after all these years. i somehow seem to lose it just when it is perfectly faded, but this last one has stayed w/ me longer.
interestingly i saw an over-indexed amount to Cal gear in Japan.
i read this but was confused. doesnt the defending champ and the host country automatically qualify?
Lionel Messi's second-half goal gave Argentina a 1-0 home win over Ecuador on Thursday ***to get their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign off on the right foot*** in front of 83,000 fans at the nearly full Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.
Sloppy game by the Chiefs: a bunch of almost-interceptions from Mahomes (plus one that he was absolutely blameless for) and loads of dropped passes by his receiving corps.
The Goffense started hot, but declined a bit in the second half. Great win by Jared and co.
I’m going the opposite direction, until I am convinced that campus culture is supportive of our money sports, I’m not giving anything to the academic departments. We should want our athletics to strive for the same degree of national prominence. The continual hobbling of football and basketball both must stop. Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas are all three our academic rivals and, yet, we do not support our money sports nearly as well.
On this day in 2012 in Memorial Stadium the Golden Bears defeated Souther Utah, 50-31.It was one of only two home victories in Jeff Tedford’s final year as head coach. DBD celebrates 100 years of football in Strawberry Canyon with this daily feature appearing throughout the football season.
I was driving toward the Outer Banks in the swampy area just before one crosses over the bridge. There was a yellow sign with the outline of a bear and I was thinking "what? bog bears are a thing?" Less than 5 minutes later, I saw a big dark blob on the side of the road. As I approached, a bear came into focus - the same shape and even facing the same direction as the sign. Slowed down and took a pic. It was clearly unafraid of cars.
Season finale episode of Star Trek- Strange New Worlds gave me XCOM 1&2 flashbacks. The Gorn attack. Seriously, those games give me PTSD-like reactions.
Seemed like the stories were getting less and less interesting and/or repetitive in recent years. Would be a great show to continue on if, instead of being required to make x number of episodes per season, could just pump one out when the content warrants.
Jack Plummer has a Jack Plummer day (16/22 for 247, 1 TD, 2 INT) as Louisville smashes Murray State 56-0. In case you're wondering, Murray State is in Murray Kentucky; they're an FCS level team and they're the "Racers" an adjustment from their previous mascot "the Thoroughbreds"
I just noticed Colorado is kicking off at noon EDT tomorrow, or 10am local time. That seems...odd. (I don't mind, I'm glad to have some Pac-12 ball on in the early timeslot)

got back from 2 wk trip to Japan last Sat and started feeling bad on Mon. been knocked out most of the week w/ coronavirus (first time).
it was medium bad for 2 days and by the time i tested positive i was already starting to feel better.
they prescribed anti-virals but i didnt end up needing them
My step-sister was in Japan at that time, HSB…I should’ve sent you a picture of her so you could say hi if you happened to see her. ;-) ;-)
i think i did see her!
Favorite cap
Navy blue cap with Gold script Cal that lights up. very Lair campfire.

I was planning to buy a gold t-shirt tomorrow before the game, but I'm starting to think would it be too cold? Do I need a gold jacket or hoodie?
For a gold out, the school should give out free tshirts. Otherwise gold out will never work at Cal.
Forecast 67 degrees at kickoff, 61 at 11pm
The problem is nobody looks good in gold. They should be blue-outs.
Agree!
Yes 100%

The mesh cap definitely made a comeback…I chalk it up to global warming.
Ebbets Field 1931 vintage Cal cap.

(touchy subject perhaps)
do people give money to Cal sports? i give plenty to academic departments but never really considered giving to football or sports.
maybe that is part of the issue w/ the culture of sports and football .. just saying
yes.
I’m going the opposite direction, until I am convinced that campus culture is supportive of our money sports, I’m not giving anything to the academic departments. We should want our athletics to strive for the same degree of national prominence. The continual hobbling of football and basketball both must stop. Is Texas really our academic rival???
Oh god, am I a snob?
Yes, Texas is. Depending upon what poll one refers to. They are connected to Texas Instruments, for one thing.
Some, but not as much as I give to any other department on campus I contribute to
That's how I've been too. Just my department.
✋
i am starting to reconsider my previous stance ..

seems like the the late 1030p ET start is our biggest home field advantage vs Auburn
i am guessing there will be a pretty good showing of fans too.
Welp, they’re setting up the narrative so, if Cal wins, it was past their bed time. 😴🥱💤
Auburn is in central time zone but yes it will be our advantage.
