Poogan's Porch in Charleston SC has the best she-crab soup. She-crab - which is differentiated from normal crab chowder - includes crab roe. Roe gives it a briny fresh-ocean dimension that other bisques don't have. And Charleston is the center of Southern cuisine. So having the best she-crab soup in Charleston is a big deal.

My friend in Sac says there is one place that is Nashville Hot Chicken with waffles and maple syrup that is very good. I need to go up and visit him and try it.

Rodón and bullpen frustrate Braves

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2022/9/14/23354091/mlb-scores-giants-braves-carlos-rodon-charlie-morton-camilo-doval-recap-final

Carlos Rodón did fine, I guess. He only struck out 8 batters rather than his normal bazillion, but San Francisco Giants fans can cope.

Other than a K-deficiency, the starter frustrated potent Braves bats for five innings, allowing only two hits while walking one in Wednesday’s 4-1 series win.

If this was last season, the performance would’ve played out in front of an electric crowd of day-drinkers playing hooky from work to witness a rubber match-up with heavy playoff implications. The back-to-back strikeouts to Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley to start the 4th would’ve set Oracle off like a cherry bomb. The backwards-K served up to Marcell Ozuna to close out his evening would’ve melted fans’ faces.

AndyPanda's avatar

Instead this, and the series, was played essentially without coverage/availability. Its as if baseball wants to lose money and fans in bulk.

Dodgers blow an extra inning lead, fall to D-backs in 10

https://www.truebluela.com/2022/9/14/23354356/dodgers-blow-lead-craig-kimbrel-sergio-alcantara-diamondbacks

The Dodgers are 0-1 without Freddie Freeman in the lineup. After coming back from a 2-0 deficit and taking the lead in the tenth inning, the Dodgers came one out away from victory but fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-3.

Chris Taylor singled on the third pitch of the game, but the offense was incredibly quiet the first time through the order. The Dodgers’ next hit would not come until the fourth inning. The D-backs offense wasted no time getting going, hitting one-out solo home runs in both the first and second innings, one from Daulton Varsho and one from Corbin Carroll.

As previously mentioned, the Dodgers’ second hit of the game did not come until the fourth inning. It was a big one. Will Smith led off the fourth inning with his twenty-second home run of the year, a 465 foot bomb, the Dodgers’ longest of the season and fourth longest of the last five seasons. The next hitter was Trayce Thompson who sent a 2-2 changeup 445 feet to tie the game at 2-2.

Why wasn't Freddie in the lineup? Hard to see how his absence helps the Dodger lineup.

Cal football trivia fun fact. Sponsored by Power Bar.

Under Sonny Dykes Golden Bear quarterbacks had thirty-two passing games of 300 yards our more (Goff 22, Webb 10) more than twice as many as under any other head coach.
