I've been watching a bunch of Auburn youtube talking heads over the past two weeks. It's tough to be informed on a national level - there is too much knowledge to gather about all relevant sources - so you have to generalize through inference and generalization. Before the game, everyone was like "Cal sucks because they always suck and hippy nerds are not serious about fuhbawl." The post-game content has been amazing. The pure uncut blacktar cognitive dissonance that Auburn fans have been consuming this week has driven them crazy. Nearly all of them are "Hugh Freeze is an idiot for not benching Peyton Thorne" and "Cal still sucks, this is a highly unlikely upset, and they'll struggle to have a winning season". I've only heard two voices of reason, which makes me thankful that Cal fan/analyst sphere is generally introspective and relatively even keeled.
There are victories and there are victories that destabilize a program. This is one of the latter and it is delicious.
Gawd help those folks should Cal beat either FSU or Miami. or both. Beating both would put Cal in the driver's seat in the ACC. In that case, I would imagine those same folks would absolutely lose their shit. They would become unglued.
Newellbany & I noticed this after the game at the Auburn bar Southeastern, and also when we had a nightcap at the Laurel hotel: the level of dejection on the faces of so many Auburn fans was sizable, and unfortunately hit a little too close to home, as I had a similar look after Wilcox’s brutal losses at U of A ‘(21), and Colorado (‘22). It’s the look you have when you know YOUR team is cooked. A home loss to Cal on national TV as double-digit favorites in week 2 is simply a devastating turn of events for that program and its fans, and puts a real ceiling on the win total.
Much like Ole Miss in ‘19, I expect the Tigers to largely fall apart this season, and scuffle to another 6-6 year…it may very well cost Freeze his job. Thorne is not an SEC caliber QB, and it doesn’t sound like they have anyone better.

I noticed the stat problem as well last night, but its not universal; they have worked in some games. They worked most of the OSU-SD St game, but had a temporary outage late in the game. I was thinking this MIGHT be related to the sites. Most of the times I've observed problems have been in games involving G5 or FCS schools. It will be interesting to monitor.

I think the problem is that you haven't given me your birthday, social security number, your mother's maiden name, the street your grew up on, and your first pet's name.
I thought it was resolved since you sent messages during work hours. Usually when a browser says a website isn't secure, it's because the SSL certificate is invalid, usually because it has expired. Looking at the WFC certificate, it was renewed on August 24th, so that probably isn't the issue. But if you're only seeing it at work, maybe something with the work network is screwing with the certificates.
If you click on Not Secure to the left of the writeforcalifornia.com URL (if you're using Chrome), it might say Certificate not Valid. Click on that and it should show up the certificate.
Patch and crash Tuesday this week was rather rocky on some systems for reasons yet to be understood. Possibly your work site dumped/invalidated some/all the existing certificates. The suggestion above *should* remedy that, although I had one install where Chrome had to be explicitly rebooted as well as the operating system this week.
This is why I insist, for myself, to use 12:00 Noon or 12:00 Mid(night) and not 12:00 AM or 12:00 PM. Does 12:00 AM mean Noon or Midnight? There is ambiguity here, and it can be not pretty. I think it is why insurance policies typically have expiry dates that includes 12:01 AM. 12:01 AM is undeniably 1 minute past midnight.

The last two days at work I've been unable to access WFC. I can go to seemingly any other website in the world but when I try to visit the DBD I'm told the server is not secure. I tried rebooting and downloading Chrome to go along with Safari. Nothing helps. It's unimaginable torture not being able to check in while my students are taking a test. Any thoughts?

I thought it was resolved since you sent messages during work hours. Usually when a browser says a website isn't secure, it's because the SSL certificate is invalid, usually because it has expired. Looking at the WFC certificate, it was renewed on August 24th, so that probably isn't the issue. But if you're only seeing it at work, maybe something with the work network is screwing with the certificates.
If you click on Not Secure to the left of the writeforcalifornia.com URL (if you're using Chrome), it might say Certificate not Valid. Click on that and it should show up the certificate.
Patch and crash Tuesday this week was rather rocky on some systems for reasons yet to be understood. Possibly your work site dumped/invalidated some/all the existing certificates. The suggestion above *should* remedy that, although I had one install where Chrome had to be explicitly rebooted as well as the operating system this week.

This is why I insist, for myself, to use 12:00 Noon or 12:00 Mid(night) and not 12:00 AM or 12:00 PM. Does 12:00 AM mean Noon or Midnight? There is ambiguity here, and it can be not pretty. I think it is why insurance policies typically have expiry dates that includes 12:01 AM. 12:01 AM is undeniably 1 minute past midnight.
