[Reuters] Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas - who is 18 years into his four year term - is reportedly visiting Moscow. If true, it is not a good look for him.
I consider the Rangers the most dangerous team in the playoffs for the simple reason that Bruce Bochy is managing them. That they have a favorite band is mere fluff.
*If* the Rangers were to win the World Series this year, it would eliminate one MLB team that hasn't yet won a World Series. There are five others. Can you name them?
Hockey isn't for everyone, apparently. A year ago, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman required that players must wear Pride Support jerseys without getting buy-in from the teams. A small minority of players refused to wear them. Bettman now has fully gone the other way - banning any form of rainbows anywhere - no jerseys, stick tape, banners. At any time, including practice or warm-ups. They also ban having players be near or participate in anything held by any specialty groups - like drag queens singing the national anthem or a moment of silence for African Americans killed by police. The NHL still wants money, so says that Group Nights are still allowed. Bettman is a fucking coward and on the wrong side of this issue.
Phils up 4-0 over the Braves in the 6th. Then they blow the lead in the bottom of the 8th 5-4. Then they walk Bryce Carper with no outs. Then a fly out. And then this.
Remember Bryant's MBB HC who unexpectedly took a leave of absence last week? Well, the cops say a little hit and run might have something to do with it.
It is the money. It's always about the money. There are distributions due to the Pac-12 based on the TV contracts and the NCAA Basketball Tournament shares that haven't been determined yet. It's an 8 figure chunk of change from reporting I've seen.
There's also the question of who owns or controls the Pacific 12 conference name. I think OSU's and WSU's argument is that the other ten schools have ceded their rights to the conference name because they've announced they are moving to other conferences. That the other ten schools want to deprive OSU and WSU of using the Pac-12 name just seems mean-spirited to me. If those schools wanted to dissolve the conference, they should have taken such action before they bolted for the exits.
I have no special knowledge but the stuff about damages seems like bullshit they are throwing up in order to reach a walk away settlement in which they are handed all of the PAC 12 marks/IP
I don't *know* that it's about the Pac-12 name as well. But I wouldn't rule it out. I think the conference name is likely at issue as well. The Pac-12 name is an asset after all, even if it is tarnished by the realignment process.
On this day in 1931 in Memorial Stadium the Golden Bears defeated The Olympic Club, 6-0. George Watkins’ TD pass to Gus Castro with five minutes left in the final quarter provided the game’s only scoring. Prior to the winning score Cal had held off two Olympic Club drives with goal line stands. The game ended with the Bears driving deep into enemy territory. The TD came on one of only two passes thrown that day. Earlier in the day the Cal freshman team ripped Oneonta Military Academy 26-0. Also on this day the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Athletics, 4-2 in game seven of the World Series. The game clocked in at a tidy one hour and fifty seven minutes.

my wife & started watching Only Murders in the Building last night, enjoying it so far. (I am not much of a tv watcher but she is and plainly misses having the 18 y.o. around to watch tv / movies with, so I'm trying to find stuff I might actually enjoy in order to be sociable)
You can watch it without ads on BBC iPlayer if you use a vpn and are willing to lie about having a tv license. They also have a new bonus XMAS episode that follows up 5 years after the original three seasons. I don't think that's available in the states yet.
no particular pattern. Sometimes garbage, sometimes stuff that's well made, there's no rhyme or reason to it. Maybe the closest thing to a pattern is that I often don't care about prestige shows about assholes - for example, I watched 1.5 episodes of Mad Men, I could see why people liked it, I couldn't even be bothered. I do watch the occasional British crime show but there are so many of those who could even keep up.
Jury Duty is a nice under-the-radar mock mockumentary.
Catastrophe, Lovesick, Starstruck, Trying...all Brit comedies with varying levels of earnestness.
Bosch and Jack Reacher, if you like the Connelly/Child cop/vigilante series
If you have AppleTV+, non-obvious ones are Dickinson (Emily, comedy), Shining Girls (time-bending thriller), Acapulco (comedy about life at, and after, a resort). For All Mankind (what if the Soviets got to the moon first) and Slow Horses (Gary Oldman and C-list Brit spies) are semi-obvious. And the recent Hijack (thriller) was quite good.

Brewers, Mariners, Rays, Rockies, Padres.
That's the five others.
Well done.
Seattle, Milwaukee
I see an irony in that the Brewers started out as the Seattle Pilots.
Rockies
Mariners

Not sure re the fourth!
Yes to all three. There are two other teams that are not the Rangers.

Indeed. It's a rite of autumn known to Giants fans everywhere.

Omfg, just let OSU and Wazzu use the P12 IP in exchange for releases of departing schools, everyone moves on
It's probably mainly the money, isn't it. I mean I'd be fine with letting them keep the money. It isn't my money.
