What's for lunch?

heyalumnigo's avatar

Ended up being pork and chives wontons.

Berkelium97's avatar

Leftover slice of pizza and a hard boiled egg.

wife and i had a mini lunch date. we were supposed to go to the local brew pub that has good burgers and beer on tap but it was unexpectedly closed on Mon.

we ended up at a new local healthy food chain called Green Life. nothing special but tasty grain bowls and things.

iced tea is a poor substitute for local draft beer.

soft boiled eggs and toast.

Leftovers: chicken curry, kebabs, steamed veggies

Same here. Had a tad too much ranch dressing.

I'm too carnivorous to believe that salads are ever good.

A nice helping of chicken breast and parm always helps.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I used to do either spinach with vidalia onion dressing, roasted almonds, and dried cranberries with 1/2 a grilled chicken breast, or a chicken caesar salad for lunch at work. Bring everything in and mix it in the office.

TheScientist019's avatar

Instant pot curry and rice here. I'm still tinkering with the dish though.

rocksanddirt's avatar

the secret to instant pot curry dishes seems to be some lime or lemon juice at the end. things go from Meh, to MMMM.

TheScientist019's avatar

Hm, I never would have thought of that, but I might give that a try.

rocksanddirt's avatar

I don't know if it works for regular curry soup type things.

TheBuckeyeBear's avatar

Ooh good tip. My parents have a lemon tree, so I've done some preserved lemons. They're a nice addition in a variety of dishes! https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/03/how-to-make-preserved-lemons.html

heyalumnigo's avatar

I ended up making lemonade each week with the lemons we had. I love the Santa Cruz Lemonade as well as the Hubert's lemonades so I tried adding blackberries and raspberries and it was pretty good. Also tried Mango but that didn't go as well. The Santa Cruz Mango Lemonade is better than mine.

he was the starter against Cal. Not the rally-er

heyalumnigo's avatar

What happened to the rally-er. Is he a backup? I guess he did well because we weren't prepared for a change in QB style.

TheScientist019's avatar

Looks like he's thrown 2/2 for 17 yards this year and that's it.

Packers end up giving up 38 unanswered points. That ended up being ugly. Rodgers carved up the Bucs in the first two drives. The Bucs don't doo much. Rodgers has a pick 6 on a pretty good play by the CB. Next drive, on the 2nd pass, tipped slant route for another INT, returned to the 3. Bucs score. GB goes inept on D. Such a strange game.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i saw that first INT. that looked very uncharacteristic because he was mostly looking at the WR the whole time.

but overall, the rest of the game the TB defense put a lot of pressure on him.

heyalumnigo's avatar

yeah he was that's true. I think I watched most of the first half.

49ers race off to a hot start against the Rams and hold on for a 24-16 victory

https://www.ninersnation.com/2020/10/18/21522425/49ers-race-off-to-a-hot-start-against-the-rams-and-hold-on-for-a-24-16-victory

The 49ers couldn’t have scripted a better opening drive. They ran it early and often, got the ball into their playmakers’ hands, and let them do the work. Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Raheem Mostert all played a part as the Niners used screens and jet sweeps to march down the field for an opening touchdown. That gave the 49ers a 7-0 lead. The defense was lucky to have a Jared Goff miss, but that’s football, as they forced the Rams to punt on an opening drive for the first time all season.

A costly miss by Jimmy Garoppolo to George Kittle on second down put the offense behind the sticks on the second drive, which forced a Niners punt. Goff was off to a miserable start as he went 1-for-6 for 17 yards. The 49ers weren’t getting a ton of pressure, but the coverage was great early on in the game outside of one play. The Rams punted on their first two drives.

sycasey's avatar

Pretty bad game for Goff.

rocksanddirt's avatar

surprisingly the '9ers defense kept them off balance and out of their typical rhythm.

sycasey's avatar

The 49ers absolutely had to win to keep their season alive, so they were going to throw everything at the Rams. The more desperate team can have an advantage.

Cugel's avatar

What? Tons of dropped balls.

sycasey's avatar

Also some he just plain missed.

Cody Bellinger home run wins NLCS Game 7, sending the Dodgers back to the World Series

https://www.truebluela.com/2020/10/18/21522051/cody-bellinger-home-run-julio-urias-legend-dodgers-game-7-nlcs-pennant

The Dodgers never led the NLCS, and never led in Game 7, until the seventh inning on Sunday night, when Cody Bellinger launched a tie-breaking home run that helped beat the Braves, 4-3.

Bellinger’s home run gave the win to Julio Urías, the third Dodgers starting pitcher of night, who pitched three perfect innings to close out the game for his fourth win in four appearances this postseason.

Urías allowed one run in eight innings in the NLCS, and has a 0.56 ERA in 16 innings this postseason.

Dammit. 2020 strikes again. Let's go RAYS!

heyalumnigo's avatar

I wonder if it will take a game or two to get used to Globe Life field. It's harder to hit HRs there and the weird bounces in the corners. Dodgers have played 10 straight games there now.

clapdoc's avatar

Plus a couple of games there in the regular season.

Scootie's avatar

dcblue's avatar

That seems to be a popular sentiment. Lots of folks around here have said the same.

Cugel's avatar

Lots O' Giants fans, sure.

Cugel's avatar

In a way, yes. But in another way, I hoped the Dodgers would beat those cheating bastards.

sycasey's avatar

Sigh. The only team better at blowing playoff games than the Dodgers are the freaking Braves.

AndyPanda's avatar

They couldn't both blow it totally in the same series.

sycasey's avatar

They tried, they tried.

dcblue's avatar

After the last out there was a shot of Dave Roberts in the dugout with his hands on his head. It almost looked like he was thinking he couldn't believe it.

heyalumnigo's avatar

that was a tough series. Just about all the games were competitive except for game 3. It was tough after being down 3-1.
