My son announced to my wife and I that he is going to apply to the NC School of Science and Math, a 2 year (JR, SR) public high school. It is a boarding school and has very competitive admission (#23 HS in America). We bought our house next to the then top public school in the State. however our house is now 22 years old. Shit is going wrong in everyone's house in the neighborhood - roof, HVAC, siding, decks, landscaping, you name it.
We were looking around at houses on the chance that he gets in, we get a new house before anything major happens in our current house. We liked a house that is less than 1 mile away as the crow flies, but it maps into the rival high school in case he doesn't get in. But we were taking our time.
Our son is not that social. He told us today that he would not mind attending the rival HS. It helps that the rival was just ranked above his previous school. Or we just keep both houses and rent one out.
So we rode over to go see the same model home that was built in another county, liked. We were then told that Prices were being raised due to Trump lumber tarrifs on Canadian lumber. The deposit was less than the price hike. We know we want the house, just not when.
So... There it is. A bit sudden. The cost of this really having my son go from pre-pubescent boy last year to potentially leaving my house for good in 7 months is... rough. I tear up just thinking that my time left with him may be measured in days and hours, not years.
Bottom line, I get a brand new house that is the same size, custom built to what we want for the same price as our existing house. Same quality schools. There is a pricing premium for our neighborhood because it is the traditional shee-shee neighborhood near the golf course. . I'll take that pricing model arbitrage, thank you.
I stopped by near the end of my run and voted this morning so the democracy is no longer crumbling. It was really efficient. The election worker was behind a glass pane and you hold up your ID. She checks your status and holds up a printout showing the info and asks you to verify. She gives you a ballot and there's a box of sanitized pens on the counter. On the way out you scan your own ballot and there's a box for the pens to be re-sanitized. Also had a box for drop off if you had already completed a ballot at home. I only had to wait about 30 seconds but there was a steady stream of about a dozen folks voting.
They are looking ahead to 2022 mid terms. two years of blaming the poor economy and high unemployment on Biden. It worked in 2010, so stick with the play.
And the president of Notre Dame is positive after being at the WH. Did he get it from the WH or from the football team?
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — The University of Notre Dame’s president announced Friday that he tested positive for the coronavirus less than a week after he attended a White House event without wearing a mask.
The Rev. John Jenkins sent an email to university students and staff saying his symptoms were mild and that he would continue to work from home.
The announcement came after Jenkins this week apologized for not wearing a mask during Saturday’s Rose Garden ceremony for Judge Amy Coney Barrett, President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee who is a Notre Dame graduate and law professor.
"Trump bizarrely suggested that Hicks could have contracted the virus from a member of the military or law enforcement: "It is very, very hard when you are with people from the military, or from law enforcement, and they come over to you, and they want to hug you, and they want to kiss you because we really have done a good job for them,” the president said. “You get close, and things happen."
RNC Chairperson Ronna McDaniel was with Trump last Friday, but self-quarantined the next day. She confirmed her test was positive yesterday. With Hope Hick, POTUS, and FLOTUS positive, I suspect we might see one or two more positives pop up in the inner circle.
I heard one area media member refer to it as "shocking". The only thing shocking about it is that it took this long, given the continual flouting of even the most rudimentary of protocols.
One thing I've read in various comments is people thinking he's faking it. Either to get out of the debates or to show how easy it is to get over it and that getting it isn't a big deal.
Given all the lies that Trump has continued to spew, I am not completely certain that this is not just a publicity stunt for the announcement of some new COVID vaccine (that he and his cronies have heavily invested in due to insider trading info).
1) Again, he doesn't have very many news cycles left. Every cycle that talks about the pandemic is not a good one for him.
2) If he gets better and makes a big deal about how the pandemic isn't that bad, the response: "You got better because you had access to health care that you are also trying to deny to millions of Americans."
Or he'll blame the loss on having had it. He'll postpone the results or try to invalidate them because it wasn't fair that he had Chinavirus (typed in Trump voice) and Biden didn't.
He averages 23 lies per day, I can see why people will question any and everything related to him. This is Russia's complete victory revenge for losing the Cold War when we cannot trust our own government or each other.
But it could take up to a week to accurately get a positive, correct? The urgent care place near me said that I should wait a week after flying back before taking the test.
Maybe it's different if you were in close contact with someone that tested positive.
The Oakland A’s finally did it. For the first time since 2006, they finally won a postseason series to move on to the next round, snapping a streak of six straight eliminations over more than a decade.
The A’s beat the Chicago White Sox 6-4 on Thursday in one of the most tense, thrilling games they’ve played in recent memory. The victory in the deciding Game 3 of the Wild Card Series means Oakland advances to an ALDS matchup with the Houston Astros, while the White Sox go home for the winter.
The last time the A’s won a series was the 2006 ALDS, against the Minnesota Twins, but they were then quickly swept by the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS. Since then, they lost the ALDS in 2012 and 2013, and then the Wild Card Game in 2014, 2018, and 2019. That’s five consecutive postseason trips without ever moving on in the bracket.
I stopped watching when Trevino came in. He usually creates jams. Same thing happened but fortunately we got out of the inning unscathed. Then I watched the top of the ninth, which was great.
Clayton Kershaw had one of the best postseason starts of his career, dominating the Brewers for eight innings in a 3-0 victory, completing a Dodgers sweep of the wild card series in two games.
Kershaw struck out 13, setting a season and career playoff high, in eight scoreless innings. Kershaw only allowed three singles on the night, including leadoff hits by Luis Urías in the third inning and Keston Hiura in the fifth. Urías walked in the eighth inning, but Kershaw promptly picked him off.
Kershaw walked one, and threw a first-pitch strike to 24 of his 27 batters faced. That efficiency allowed him to get through eight innings in only 93 pitches.
Usually he looks good until about the 6th or 7th. Also in the past the bullpen hasn't been as strong as this year. I think if the Dodgers had this bullpen he wouldn't have gone out for the fateful inning or there would be a quicker hook.
I mean 1-8 or 9 this bullpen is really good. And they've barely been used. Very few back to back appearances and no 3 days in a row. They're definitely well rested. And that's without Floro, who was out in the wildcard round and Ferguson who just got Tommy John.
I already get both Pac-12 network and Pac-12 Bay Area on comcast. Pax-12 Bay area is not HD so it is very frustrating to watch. So I wouldn't pay $360 for it.
Well, I didn't know when I woke up this morning that I was going to buy another house.
My son announced to my wife and I that he is going to apply to the NC School of Science and Math, a 2 year (JR, SR) public high school. Like moving to the southern part of Lafayette where everyone goes to Campo, the better HS...

Congratulations on the new house and the growing son!

I wonder if he’s counting on holding the senate because he’s plainly not trying to keep the GOP hold on the presidency
Yeah I really do not understand the politics of Republicans holding up COVID relief.
They are looking ahead to 2022 mid terms. two years of blaming the poor economy and high unemployment on Biden. It worked in 2010, so stick with the play.
I suppose so. I wonder if it will keep working with voters who have seen this act many times already.
They're hoping their base isn't smart enough to figure it out.
Maybe they are afraid that if trump losses then this will help the economy under democrats and Biden and they will message on it.

2020 finally delivers some good news
He is such a weirdo:
"Trump bizarrely suggested that Hicks could have contracted the virus from a member of the military or law enforcement: "It is very, very hard when you are with people from the military, or from law enforcement, and they come over to you, and they want to hug you, and they want to kiss you because we really have done a good job for them,” the president said. “You get close, and things happen."

Sen. Mike Lee confirms positive.
Shame if 3 GOP senators got the virus and died.
Even bigger shame if a bunch of them have to quarantine and can't vote on a new Supreme Court Justice.
But they only need to quarantine for 14 days so it would only postpone the vote.
Can't return as long as they continue to test positive.
This never would have happened if he didn't get tested.
I heard one area media member refer to it as "shocking". The only thing shocking about it is that it took this long, given the continual flouting of even the most rudimentary of protocols.
The way he was acting I would've had the O/U sometime in July or August. I definitely would've lost money.

Looks like RBG successfully argued her first case before God.

oh I hadn't even thought about the vaccine angle.
Given the other positive tests from people in close proximity I really doubt he's faking.
This is where I am at as well.
Yeah I think I'm coming around to agreeing as well.
1) Again, he doesn't have very many news cycles left. Every cycle that talks about the pandemic is not a good one for him.

He is negative. Funny, it seems like taking precautions, wearing a mask and taking this serious protects people.
But it could take up to a week to accurately get a positive, correct? The urgent care place near me said that I should wait a week after flying back before taking the test.
Maybe it's different if you were in close contact with someone that tested positive.

And I thought the Padres winning 11-9 last night was going to be the highlight of my evening.
A couple wacky highlights from last night's Jets-Broncos game:
Sam Darnold runs 46 yards (!) for a TD https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1311826241700290560
A near-certain Broncos interception somehow turns into a TD (CB #35 later redeemed himself with 2 picks, including a pick-six)
https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1311834411000688640
I hadn't seen the Darnold run. That was horrible D by the Broncos.
Adam Gase needs to be fired.

That was one of the worst attempts at a sack I’ve ever seen, and then the guy in the secondary who fell for the shimmy 😂

Hypothetical:
Would you buy a cut-out for Memorial Stadium for $100?
And what about $360 if it was bundled with a year of Pac-12 Network Bay Area?
I would only consider it if it's signed by the entire team at the end of the season.
No. And fuck the pac12 network
No and no. I bought one for the Giants, but that was for 30-ish games. Foamcore me is not paying $33 a game.
I'd consider it.

Yes. And no because I just use someone else's account to watch P12N for Cal games.
