Before they even get started, the Mt. West has cancelled the New Mexico at Colorado St. game due to total Covid cases in Bernalillo County, where Albuquerque is located. The rate of positive tests was low enough, but the sheer number of cases was too high.
The Gasparilla Bowl gets a new sponsor. Past sponsors: Beef 'O' Brady, bitcoin, Bad Boy Mowers. Also in the news, there is a bowl game called the Gasparilla Bowl.
That's a pretty underwhelming sponsor given the recent slate of excellent names (which is the only reason I even remember that the Gasparilla Bowl exists).
with the number of bowls, we should be able to get $1000 together and have a CGB bowl. What should we call it? And what would our conference affiliations be?
Hudson Clark, the no-star, no-offer walk-on freshman DB for Arkansas, has earned a scholarship (effective January) after picking off Ole Miss' Matt Corral 3 times last Saturday.
"Outside a public library in Baldwin Park, Calif., the smoke streaming from the intentional fire set inside an official ballot collection box made the deposit slot look like a chimney. Firefighters first tried to pry the sides of the metal container open with a crowbar and an ax. After a few minutes, they pulled out a saw and began cutting through the frame.
As a sheet of metal finally fell away from the box, a thick cloud of smoke billowed out.
“We’re going to save as many ballots as we can,” a firefighter said in a live stream of the incident posted to Facebook Sunday night.
An unknown person dropped a flaming piece of newspaper into the ballot box outside the Los Angeles-area public library around 8 p.m. Sunday, officials said. Los Angeles County firefighters cut open the box and put the flames out, but dozens of cast ballots had already been damaged, either by the fire or the attempts to put it out. The city’s mayor estimated as many as 100 ballots had been affected by the vandalism.
After they quelled the flames, firefighters gathered the damaged ballots and delivered them to the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office. County officials said voters who think their ballot may have been compromised can call the Registrar to find out if their ballot has been received. A Los Angeles County official told KCAL all of the damaged ballots have been accounted for and affected voters would receive replacement ballots in the mail."
It seems like he could be rotated in on rushing downs, say 3rd and 2 or less. Maybe another team could sign him. I suppose he could end up like Scoobie Wright, the AZ linebacker...
I haven't been paying close attention, but weren't the Cardinals considered pretty set at linebacker right now? There just might not be an open spot for Weaver to fill.
in a strange twist due to coronavirus delays and postponements, both the Giro d' Italia and the Vuelta a Espana are happening concurrently.
it is pretty rare these days that riders can compete in multiple grand tours at a winning level, so there was never going to be too much overlap, but they still used to space them across the calendar pretty evenly.
So if the Giro and the Vuelta are going on at the same time, I guess that means the riders had to choose one or the other. Did one event attract more top riders than the other?
but it is too hard to do 2 in a row, so if you shoot for le Tour then you usually skip the other 2, or you could try giro-vuelta. no one has a giro-tour double in a LONG time. in the "old days" the riders just used to ride everything all year. nowadays you pick one and maximize your training and chances on just one grand tour.

Better than the old Poulan weed-eater bowl (now defunct)
It's not defunct! Just now called the Independence Bowl. Actually, it always was. Poulan Weed-Eater was the sponsor for a time in the 90s.

That's an automatic L for Cal
So Cal vs Grambling every year? We can throw out the .500 winning percentage requirement.

yes sort of.
