David Lynch’s Dune has attained a cult like following and people have come to enjoy it for what it is but it certainly isn’t a very good adaptation of the book.
Dune (2021) is a much more faithful adaptation. The score by Hans is wonderful, the cinematography is beautiful and the cast is very good.
I highly recommend it and I can’t wait for part 2.
Uh, the problem with the movie is that's it's a really bad movie, not that's it's a bad adaptation. Lynch was 100% the wrong director for that project.
That's quite a low standard. I remember going to see that with a friend of mine. Only minutes before Dune was to start, we walked in and found we were the only ones in the theater.
It's much easier to follow what's going on - we watched it en famille and the 16 year old recoiled at the idea of trying to follow the whole story in a fraction of the time.
It really is, I enjoyed it at home on my 82 inch and Sonos surround sound but if you can find it and watch it on IMAX, that is the way to go with this movie.

I'm smoking two beef eye of rounds this afternoon: one heavily rubbed and one lightly rubbed. I was reading that heavy rubs provide more of a crust on the exterior that gives more seasoning flavor but blocks some of the smokey flavor, so I'm having a comparison to see whether I prefer more smokey or more seasoned. I've smoked beef several times previously, but I hadn't given thought to the effect of the rub on its ability to absorb smoke flavor.
Turner's Kitchen had a sandwich special the other day that was smoked roast beef, aged white cheddar, avocado, onion dip coleslaw and A1 sauce. It was incredible.

Probably around 14. I wish it was higher. It's an everyday norm, with multiple things going on at once. Remote work has cut down on side commotion, but not legitimate competing issues, in an increasingly complex world.
It's become so much the norm I find I have difficulty just focusing on one thing if there are gaps, like the 3-4 minute media interruptions in the flow of a game if I'm trying to just watch the game.
The thing I've observed is the need for this skill as an everyday skill, and one that is not being well-taught to most students. We see people trying to enter the real world who cannot function in an environment where they must balance multiple projects or responsibilities at the same time.
Rate, hmmm... from 5 to 18 depending on what's going on, how sober I am, at least 2 cups of coffee... etc...
One thing that drives me INSANE about my wife - if she's on the phone just yakking away, she refuse to pause for a second to answer a question. Dives me nuts, I can't understand it, and yet she's perfectly fine interrupting me for anything she thinks in mildly important.

I don't have that luxury. I don't drive meetings, but I am expected to provide background info on certain hot topics. I can be asked for info seemingly out of the blue.
Speaking of crushes...I recall you having one on a hot consultant (I think) that you only became aware of because you were in regular in-person meetings together. So maybe this one cuts both ways?

in Kolkata, kids get a month off from school and it is a 4-7 day holiday. my family is in charge of funding the celebration in a small village where we are one of the major landholders but i have never been because it was always right after school started here in the US and it never made sense to take 2-3 wk trip right after summer vacation ended.

I'll rate myself a 15 on multi tasking. I make my name on this, you have to be adaptable to distractions. A common example for me is doing homework while watching, TV, youtube, twitch, or listening to music. They are seem like distractions and sometimes they are but its effective to get me in a good mindset to work unless I start bingewatching.

I'll rate myself a 15 on multi tasking. I make my name on this, you have to be adaptable to distractions. A common example for me is doing homework while watching, TV, youtube, twitch, or listening to music. They are seem like distractions and sometimes they are but its effective to get me in a good mindset to work unless I start bingewatching.
