I recently finished season 2 of Stranger Things. Wow the last few episodes of the season were so good. I wonder if that was the peak since I heard season 4 wasn't nearly as good and just saw season 5 will be the last one.

What?! Season 4 was so good!

I would rank the seasons 1, 4, 2, 3.

Nah, Season 4 was fun!

Hmm, I like Season 4 more than Season 2.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i heard season 4 was among the better ones also.

Expand full comment
sycasey's avatar

To me, Seasons 2 and 3 increasingly start to feel like wheel-spinning, like they're just piling on more 80s horror references without any thought to how anything connects. Season 4 actually pulls the mythology together in a pretty satisfying way (IMO).

Expand full comment
GlueAndBold's avatar

Season 2 definitely mimics Season 1 to a noticeable degree but I still found it fun and exciting. Season 3 was a waste of a concept. And Season 4 was easily better than both despite sometimes struggling under the size of its cast.

Expand full comment
heyalumnigo's avatar

Hmm...maybe it was 3 that was bad and 4 was better.

Expand full comment
sycasey's avatar

Yeah, I think 3 is the weakest. The weakest parts of 4 (IMO) are because they have to clean up the dangling plot left over from 3.

I quit watching after 3 for this reason. People say S4 was good, but meh.

Ice cream sandwich

i like the very traditional kind where after a couple minutes the chocolate starts sticking to the wrapper and your fingers. the only way to fix it is to lick you fingers clean!

that is usually what i get when the ice cream truck comes by the neighborhood.

Mint Chip > Chocolate >> Vanilla >>>>>>>> everything else

The It's Its store in Burlingame used to sell chocolate covered oatmeal cookies. They were so good.

After you said you got like a case of It's-Its from Groupon, it made me want one - but there aren't any out here in NC. So I bought some rando brand ice cream cookie sandwich and it did not fill the It's-It sized hole in my soul.

As an homage to Scootie & hag, I did try the mint chip flavored It's-It on one of my recent Bay Area visits...while historically I've never been a huge mint chip fan, I nonetheless have found myself having a hankering for that flavor of ice cream in recent years.

That said, I found the mint ice cream flavor to be overpowering whence trying to enjoy the delicious chocolate-covered oatmeal cookie. I was disappointed.

Cappuccino remains my favorite, and is in fact on my Mt. Rushmore of sweets....

When I was in college, I lost three straight $20 hands of blackjack to the dealer just bam bam bam fast. That was so much money to me! Since then I may put a sawbuck on a game to make it more interesting to watch but that is about it. At least the game is 2-3 hours for the money as opposed to literally a few secs.

One caveat to this rule is if I am totally drunk, then who knows

Cal football trivia fun fact. Sponsored by Circuit City.

The Big Game was not the only last minute victory for the Bears at Memorial Stadium in 1982. Cal beat Oregon that year 10-7 on a 28-yard TD pass from Gale Gilbert to tight end David Lewis with 53 seconds remaining. The Ducks had assumed the lead less than two minutes earlier. The Bears’ fifth interception (two picks were by Kevin Moen who would gain eternal Cal fame a month later) sealed the victory. A Cal defense that held Oregon to 234 total yards was led by linebacker Ron Rivera’s fourteen tackles. Gilbert, Lewis and Rivera all went on to play in the NFL.

Cal trivia fun fact appears on DBD every Tuesday and Thursday during the football season.
