I am currently a board member of a nonprofit that assists survivors of DV, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. Previously, I assisted a friend start a legal aid program. It last a few years then failed due to lack of funding, but we did good while it lasted. I also volunteered for a nonprofit that takes disabled individuals and disadvantaged youth white water rafting. I'd like to get back to this program but life and family leaves little time for all-day rafting trips.

This food show is hosted by Stephen Satterfield, who looks into the history and influence that African Americans have on American cooking. The punchline is that African-Americans are the origins of American cooking - but there has been intentional erasure and unintentional loss of the that history. Satterfield isn't super polished or slick, but nothing can replace his and his guests passion, honestly, and pleasure of holding onto or re-discovering this history. I couldn't taste the food, but I certainly could empathize with the feeling of wonder and joy of learning about "my" culture and origins.
Lupin - [Netflix 17/19] - A French show about a man taking revenge against the family that setup his dad for stealing a necklace. A really good show with twists and good flashbacks to tie everything together.

Gilded Age on MAX, a perfectly fine comfort show that seems a bit more focus in S2 than it was in S1. 13/19
Invincible on Amazon. Adult-level superhero animated show, with a stellar cast and great writing. Season 1 was so good, Season 2 has one episode out so far. 17/19.
Lessons in Chemistry on AppleTV. My wife says it is faithful enough to the book. Bree Larson is excellent as a nerdy scientist/single mom trying to make it all work in the 50's. 17/19.
High on the Hog (Netflix, WB, 16/19).
This food show is hosted by Stephen Satterfield, who looks into the history and influence that African Americans have on American cooking. The punchline is that African-Americans are the origins of American cooking - but there has been intentional erasure and unintentional loss of the that history. Satterfield isn't super polished or slick, but nothing can replace his and his guests passion, honestly, and pleasure of holding onto or re-discovering this history. I couldn't taste the food, but I certainly could empathize with the feeling of wonder and joy of learning about "my" culture and origins.

Lupin - [Netflix 17/19] - A French show about a man taking revenge against the family that setup his dad for stealing a necklace. A really good show with twists and good flashbacks to tie everything together.
There are about 5 episodes per "season" and I've finished the first 2 seasons.
So good!
