Ugh. Someone who works in another work unit passed away this morning. Not sure how old he was only that it appears he would have been in his late 20s/early 30s. What's worse is that his father also works for the same employer. It's been a rotten week.

All of the recent Stanfurd conjecture over Troy Taylor's future made me realize that I hadn't heard a peep from Go Bears (Bob R) on these boards in a long minute. Is he still with us (existentially)?

He's been banned

Thanks. At least he’s not dead. I always assumed he was elderly. Or a masterful performance artist.

Expand full comment

Banned doesn't mean a person has passed away, which is what PawlOski is asking.

Oh, then I heard he was seen on Bear Insider.

In Greek mythology, Cassieopia was the wife of King Cepheus and the mother of Andromeda. She was renowned for her beauty and was punished by the gods for her arrogance. Due to her vanity, Cassieopia was placed in the sky as a constellation.

what does this mean? aside from the football portal ..

we have major offices in Seattle and DC. they have a portal setup in the 2 offices where you can see the other side and have a meeting together.

it will be cool when you walk thru the portal into the other office like the secret passages in Clue. my prediction is that quantum computers and entanglement will somehow help w/ this.

Expand full comment

Won't that require assistance from the scientists working on time travel?

Expand full comment

i am sure it will require al sort of sci-fi related thing and not a likely reality. the prediction about quantum computers was somewhat of a joke since people are always asking me what they will be good for and i dont have a great answer because nobody really knows yet.

Warriors blow another big lead late, fall to Nuggets, 119-115

https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2024/12/3/24312811/golden-state-warriors-blow-another-big-lead-late-fall-nuggets-119-115

After the Golden State Warriors won their first-round series over the Denver Nuggets in 2022, three-time MVP Nikola Jokic has been merciless, winning the next seven straight against the Dubs. It looked like the Warriors were going to break that streak when they pulled ahead in the fourth quarter, but once again, a double-digit lead became a harbinger of doom as the Nuggets came back to win, 119-115.

Expand full comment

Looks like they were just the "rabbit" team this season and aren't a real contender.

Expand full comment

that no fun to watch. up up 9 or 11 w/ 5 min to go and then the W's went cold, played horrible on offense and defense. give the Nuggets credit, they outplayed the W's down the stretch and hardly made a mistake.

Jaron Keawe Sagpoletele flips commitment to Oregon

The silver lining to this is that JKS wouldn't be cheap NIL-wise and would have sat on the bench for at least another year developing. There will be JKS or another one like him that gets impatient sitting on the bench and wants his chance in a few years. Cal isn't the traditional place for 18 year olds to want to come to, but it is the place where seasoned and a bit wiser 20 year olds. Now we've got more funds to go after Olinemen to make our offense whole.

He's a PhD in psychology (I think) that is a detective in DC. I won't give any spoilers other than he's hunting down a serial killer.

I'm sure there is a pro-Alabama bias here, but . . . Miami blew their chance to lock up a spot in the last week, and despite having a record one game worse, Alabama definitely has more "good wins" than Miami does. Georgia is better than anyone Miami beat.

Expand full comment

Miami has been helped by the officials in, I think, at least 3 games this year. all back to back to back if I remember. We were either the middle game or the tail end of those games.

Expand full comment

Win. Leave no doubt. For sure. But outside the top four, no team has command of their destiny. Teams ranked 5-12 are ranked on perceived strength of conference and the SEC is getting the benefit of an SEC bias. Alabama's best win, Georgia, came a whisper from losing at home, being 9-3, to the same team that provided Miami one of two losses. Despite this, Georgia goes up 2 spots, and Alabama, who beat a 5-7 Auburn (who beat TA&M, but who Cal beat), manages to rise 2 spots and ahead of Miami. I am not sure how Georgia needing 8 overtimes and a controversial non call on King's fumble doesn't put a huge ding on Georgia's reputation and a ding on the strength of Alabama's win against Georgia.

Expand full comment

Also, sorry, but scheduling a cupcake like Mercer in week 10 should put a ding on a schools record as should the fact that the SEC plays only 8 conference games.

Expand full comment

Yes, but in this case the ACC also plays 8 conference games.
