Cal Football 2025 Early Signing Period, Live Chat: The New Generation comes in
The next generation of Bears are coming through the door.
Follow along with fellow Cal fans as we welcome our newest crop of recruits to become Golden Bears!
We will update this post with signing announcements as they come in with some analysis on each player!
5:20 AM: CB Kaden Cook from Texas is first in the door! He committed way back in September 2023. Check out more of his highlights from Hudl.
6:33 AM: LB Beckham Barney from Arizona is next up! Here’s our original commitment post. More of his highlights on Hudl.
“A multi-sport athlete (baseball, football), Barney will add some versatility to the inside linebacker class with his ability to play multiple positions on the inside.”
Barney also played both ways last season.
6:45 AM: OL Ben Howard from Utah puts in the early signing. Here’s our original commitment post. More of his highlights from his senior tape on Hudl.
Scouting report via 247Sports:
[Howard] does have tackle length with close an 80” wingspan and moves well. He’s a strong kid, physical at the point of attack and is a finisher. He moves well laterally and shows the ability to slide, kick step and get out on speed rushers but is probably more advanced as a run blocker right now. His wide frame, feet and balance should allow him to make a smooth transition to guard at the next level and he projects as an easy Power 4 prospect
6:51 AM: A silent commit at a position of need! Enter Odera Okaka, top new edge JUCO rusher from San Mateo. New story below.
7:01 AM: In comes Meyer Swinney from Minnesota, brother of Bastian and a huge pass catcher. Here’s our original commitment post on Meyer.
A quote from his early commitment.
Coach BT and all the offensive staff really make it feel like home and I think I can work great in the system if I play wide receiver or tight end. A versatile 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect, Swinney says the Bears will play him "outside, inside, or winged/backfield.
