Cal football lands a commitment from LB Beckham Barney
Cal gets their second linebacking commit for the 2025 class.
The California Golden Bears have been making more noise on the 2025 recruiting trail in the past month. Committing this weekend was Beckham Barney, Mountain View High inside linebacker out of Arizona.
Barney runs in the line of productive inside linebacking talents that Cal likes to target. In his junior season, Beckham racked up 145 tackles (64 solo), 13 tackles for loss, as well as four sacks, four forced fumbles, one interception.
The Mesa (Az.) defender is ranked as the 25th best prospect in Arizona and 150th best linebacker by 247Sports. Barney also held offers from all the service academies (Army, Air Force and Navy), as well as Ivy League programs Columbia and Dartmouth. Here are his junior Hudl highlights.
It is Cal's linebacking commit of the month, as Ke'Breion Winston verballed at the start of June. Cal is up to nine commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, with verbals also from running back Jojo Solis, running back Anthony League, linebacker Carter Jones, cornerback Kaden Cook, tight end/wide receiver Meyer Swinney, offensive lineman Ben Howard, defensive lineman Ike Okafor and Winston.
Welcome to Cal, Beckham! Go Bears!
