Cal football recruiting commit: Ike Okafor, Houston (Tx.) defensive lineman
The Bears continue their hot week of commitments on the football gridiron.
The California Golden Bears have their first defensive lineman of the 2025 recruiting class, as Houston (Tx.) Alief Hastings DL Ikechukwu 'Ike' Okafor made the call to be a California Golden Bear.
Okafor picked Cal over Arizona State. Other major offers included Texas Tech, Pitt, Washington State. He becomes the seventh commit for the Golden Bears. Here are his Hudl highlights.
More on his decision from an interview with Ryan Young at Rivals:
Cal defensive line coach Andrew Browning had made Okafor feel like a priority since they started talking weekly in January.
"I love the guy," Okafor said.
The most impactful part of his official visit was when they sat in a meeting room and went over his own film and how he'd be utilized by the Bears.
"I loved how he showed me their drills and used my film as an example," Okafor said.
Okafor is the second line commitment of the week for the Bears for the 2025 class, as offensive lineman Ben Howard committed over the weekend. DL is always the priority in Strawberry Canyon these days, for now and in the future.
Welcome to Cal Ike! Go Bears!
If you follow high school recruiting, one may remember a 4-star DT recruit from last season named Jordan Renaud - a 6'3" 245 pound monster who ran competitively in the 100m (11.82 & 12.06) in Texas. Several media outlets picked up on the physical monster, including this one:

He eventually went to Alabama.
Guess who is bigger and faster.
