I recently recalled a conversation I had decades ago with two friends who were, like me, devoted fans of the Sturdy Golden Bears. My two friends were arguing over whether Ebenezer Scrooge would have been a graduate of Stanfurd or U$C. I surprised them by saying that he must have been an Old Blue. I explained that neither a Furdien or a Trojan could have undergone the magical transformation that Scrooge did at the end of A Christmas Carol. My argument carried the day and drinks were purchased for me by both lads. (True story.)
