Rank 'em: Thai food, Mexican food, Japanese food, a noogie

Mexican, Thai, *Sushi

Mexican, Thai, Japanese

Tough decision. I could eat any one of them for weeks at a time and never get sick of it.

Mexican, Japanese, Thai, noogie.

Sorry Grandma, but I could eat Mexican every day for the rest of my life. In fact, I'm making slow-cooked chile verde tonight.

Japanese

Thai

Mexican

Nothing against the taste of Mexican food, but it doesn't do well in my stomach.

This is mine as well.

Mexican, Thai, Japanese.

goldenone's avatar

I like tempura over sushi

AndyPanda's avatar

Mexican food, Japanese food, more mexican food, still more mexican food, some more Japanese food, maybe a noogie, more mexican food, Thai food still not oven on the horizon.

Fire Starkey's avatar

and this is why you are a terrible person. Thai food is best food in the universe and its not close. Mexican has its place and I can eat it every day til my stomach explodes but Thai food is so much more interesting

AndyPanda's avatar

I suppose if by interesting you mean can't choke it down.

been rewatching the Mandalorian w/ my friend here in Indiana.

there are a lot of little references to all sorts of things from all over the movies, but especially w/ a nod to the original trilogy.

e.g. at the end of the episode on Mos Eisley, the mechanic/repair person say to just "throw the dead body in Beggar's Canyon"

SGBear's avatar

Kenobi is the next film. Tatooie is a hahsh place, but Yavin Fou-wah is a wicked pissah. But if you love apples, y'gonna love whe-yah dey filming da next instahlment.

So I guess it's between Ep 3 and 4? I wonder what scenes they'll shoot in Boston. Maybe bar scenes?

Nothing but Staaaaar Waaaaars . . .

Ky, where the Cincinnati airport is.

Fire Starkey's avatar

gotta respect nailing her TV son when he was all grown up

heyalumnigo's avatar

My two favorites are motherfucker and jesus fucking christ (here comes the lightning bolt)

Fire Starkey's avatar

I swear A LOT. So does the Missus. LMFS's first was "fuck" and her first full sentence was "dont be an asshole, daddy". Sorry kid, you didn't deserve that 3rd Kool Aid Jammer in an afternoon

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

THIS is awesome, Starky!

DC Trojan's avatar

one time when my older daughter was maybe 2 she walked past me and the missus saying "shitshitshitshit" and my wife gave me the stink eye - but the next time, said girl was waking around saying "oh Jesus! oh Jesus!" which she certainly didn't get from me, so we decided to call a truce.

Scootie's avatar

My mainstays are for fuck's sake and jesus fucking christ. Also there is no "I can't believe it" it's always "I can't fucking believe it".

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

I have a healthier respect for people that cuss in casual parlance

rocksanddirt's avatar

rather than traditional swearing I tend to use "god bless america" in the same tone that ones says JFC. Seems more acceptable both at home and in the work place.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Swearing has always been prevalent in the Chitwood house, although there is a documented rise during Cal football and basketball seasons....

Cugel's avatar

I used to use "fucking A" a lot more.

Tangtpt's avatar

I like "fuckity fuck fuck". Feels light and jovial. I also generally don't like using the "c" word, but it becomes more acceptable when you add a "y" to the end of it.

Wiata78's avatar

Is that from crazy rich Asians, the book?

Tangtpt's avatar

It might have been, but I don't know. I just heard someone say it once and I just liked it.

Today in Covid

SGBear's avatar

Wife and I were wondering how it will play out once the vaccines start being common. Specifically, I would imagine that you'd have the vaccinated and the mUh-fReEdOmS folks going maskless with the latter really using as a carte blanche to be superspreaders. So perhaps the third wave is going to be particularly bad, but hitting people who had it coming (and their families). Imma be hunkered down until I get a vaccine, but I suspect I am the lowest priority for one.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

In a cruel twist of fate, it was just announced that Cal fans will have to file an application with the NCAA in order to be eligible for the COVID virus vaccine....

Berkelium97's avatar

I've seen plenty of grim photos during the outbreak, but that one is particularly depressing.

4-star (borderline 5-star) QB Jake Garcia decommits from USC. Will likely go to the U.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Is this the QB whose parents "divorced" so he could go play in Georgia I think?

DC Trojan's avatar

it's going to be funny (for everyone else) if last year's run by Slovis means both the departure of JT Daniels and the diversion of Garcia, only for it to become clear that the SC coaches somehow fucked up Slovis' rehab from injury and he's not the QB he used to be. But in the meantime, can't blame Garcia for looking.

With multiple bowls cancelled for this year, including the Sun Bowl, the Armed Forces Bowl has signed an agreement for their game on Dec. 31 (9 AM PT on ESPN) to match a Pac-12 team with an SEC team. This bowl is played in Fort Worth, TX, in TCU's home stadium.

OUR CRUMBLING DEMOCRACY

NYT: Sen David Perdue (R-GA) is a liar. He didn't use an outside advisor to direct his trades. He is in a runoff vs. Ossoff and will still probably win.

Turnovers cost the Bears in a 62-70 loss to #25 ASU

https://writeforcalifornia.com/p/cal-basketball-pac-12-arizona-state/comments

I'm still not used to the concept of having a competitive basketball team. The Jones era did lasting damage to my interest in the men's team.

g.oso's avatar

we have a bball team? i thought we cut that sport a few years ago

Cugel's avatar

They were down one point at half to #25 - they aren't an embarrassment anymore

g.oso's avatar

the Wyking hire killed any and all enthusiasm I had for cal bball. I may never recover

Cugel's avatar

I feel your pain, left wounds on my fandom as well.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

I'll never feel the same about Cal hoops after the Wyking mess...there's no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. But I'll settle for at least competent, watchable basketball....

goldenone's avatar

Down only 3 points with around 3 minutes remaining. But a couple of turnovers and missed threes doomed us. If we can get our accuracy up to around 38-39% on threes we should be in every game. The difference from the Jones' era is stark.

heyalumnigo's avatar

And all the missed FTs.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Brown can't hit a free throw to save his life unfortunately.

Bradley is an interesting case - reminded me a bit of Jaylen Brown in that he constantly drove the ball into traffic, clearly earning multiple player control fouls. Now, I love Bradley and think he's got an outside shot at getting drafted mid-late 2nd round...but we've got solid shooters in Foreman, Grant and Betley...he doesn't have to be taking 21 shots a night...needs to work on the drive & dish...

heyalumnigo's avatar

Also Brown doesn't have the press break like Paris Austin did last year. I'm not sure if he just isn't quick enough and doesn't have the handles, or he just doesn't have the assertiveness and confidence that Austin had to break the press 1 on 1.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Yes. I like the kid, and he can play a role. But as a primary ballhandler, the FT shooting is a killer. That said, he does look improved since last year, with the exception of the stripe.

Cugel's avatar

The Bradley with two dumb charges (correctly called BTW) towards the end, love the guy's passion and fearlessness, but he has to recognize this hurts the team.

heyalumnigo's avatar

That first one kinda looked like a flop. Which given that ASU is coached by Bobby Hurley, I wouldn't be shocked.

Ducks will be wearing "Wolf Grey" vs. the Golden Bears

https://twitter.com/GoDucks/status/1334678899817500672

Berkelium97's avatar

"Wolf"? They couldn't go with something duck-related? How about Gadwall Grey--it even has alliteration.

g.oso's avatar

I hope there's a reverse juju to that 2013 game in eugene in the rain where we wore road greys

Berkelium97's avatar

Ah yes, the first #TinyHands game.

GB III's avatar

Having Peking Duck tonight. If Cal wins, I will eat duck before every home game. If Cal does not win, I will stick to eating my pride...and salami sandwiches.

A little more after the Big Game.
