DBD Road Trip

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

sampled some food in the greater Albany metro area last night. almost called @NewAlbany for suggestions on the drive up to VT.

mostly we just needed a quick dinner that would fill us up and not require a 1 hour break. this Greek place we found, Simone's Kitchen, was perfect. fast fresh like Chipotle and the like. and nice enough to have pistachio baklava and Turkish coffee!

took me 11 today

I probably could've done it in 4 if I didn't guess the wrong direction for the 2nd one.

That was a tough one. I’ve even been there and I was still stumped for a while

Both skill and luck low. At least I didn’t go all the way down the rabbit hole.

FiatSlug's avatar

I had similar results on the Skill/Luck scores, though I felt rather unlucky in that I had 4 letters on the 2nd guess, and spent three more guesses flailing to get the last (really, the first) letter.

Bad day for me. Took me to the last row. I blame you because I used the word round to start after seeing around in your comment.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i tried a different starting word, i normally use CLASP but yesterday someone posted they uses a different WordleBot word

dcblue's avatar

Just for variety I try to use a different word every day. Usually it’s a two vowel word.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i will say that using CLASP and then TONER or TREND (assuming no hits) seems to give me on-average lower scores.

Nolan Arenado continues to haunt Robbie Ray, Giants

The Giants lost two players to injury and a blowout game to the Arizona Diamondbacks

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/san-francisco-giants-scores-standings/106795/nolan-arenado-continues-to-haunt-robbie-ray-giants

Before Monday’s game, veteran third baseman Nolan Arenado had hit more home runs and driven in more runs against the San Francisco Giants than any other MLB team. Against Monday’s starter Robbie Ray, Arenado had a career slash line of .364/.444/.773. Six pitches into Monday’s game, Arenado had a grand slam and the Arizona Diamondbacks had a 4-0 lead they’d never relinquish in a 12-2 loss.

King beats Yamamoto in an old-fashioned pitchers’ duel

https://www.truebluela.com/dodgers-scores-standings/116274/yoshinobu-yamamoto-michael-king-pitchers-duel-loss

Who would have thought that when Miguel Andujar scored a run in the first on a solo homer, he’d be scoring the only one in this game as the Padres won it 1-0? Seldom throughout the course of the 2026 season did Yoshinobu Yamamoto find an opponent capable and effective in going toe-to-toe with him through a start—Michael King had something to say about that, as the Padres’ ace outdueled him, shutting down an offense that was just coming off scoring a whopping 31 runs in three games against the Angels, sweeping their way through the first of three straight series away from home. With seven scoreless innings, King was able to maintain the smallest of leads, and the Padres’ bullpen closed the door despite some late scares.

Giro resumes today w/ individual time trial after Monday rest day.

rest days are the worst for fans who otherwise have nothing to do for 4+ hours.

Vingegaard is the odds on favorite w/ no real competition. he doesnt have maglia rosa (leaders pink jersey) yet but is zeroing in on it slowly.

Felix Gall (Austrian) looks to be his closest competition and the only one who can stay with him mostly in the high mountain stages.

will be interesting to see what kind of form Vingegaard will have for the tour in Jul vs Pogacar.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

it seems like dumb thing to watch. but i rather enjoy watching the individual time trial even though you only see one rider at a time.

one guy Filipo Ganna, who will probably win the day, almost passed 3 guys, they were spaced 2 min apart.
