my earliest memory is not of the original film but the great, underappreciated "Bambi vs Godzilla". Thought that was one of the funniest things ever when I was 5 or so.
No symptoms or reactions to my Pfizer shot two yesterday, though I did take a nap this afternoon. But I blame that on the power of suggestion from the post of HSB on Monday.
No 3's baseball team parents got an email. One of their teammates that was at the game on Sat tested positive yesterday. They said that no kids were deemed close contact because the covid close contact rules are 2 days within symptoms (he had none) or a positive test. So Sat would've been 3 days. I think that's kinda crap since he still could've infected them.
Here at EBMWU our Regulatory Compliance folks remind staff that the High Risk Exposure Period (HREP) begins 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms and extends 10 days thereafter. They don't mark the start of the HREP by a positive test.
And by the way, if *anyone* was in close contact for at least 15 minutes with the infected kiddo, they should be tested. There's also been evidence to suggest that even just 5 minutes of close contact may be enough to pass along the infection.
If anyone in my family were in contact with an infected person in a similar situation they'd have gotten a test within 24 hours of notification out of an abundance of caution.
Did the parents say when the onset of symptoms happened? Because if not, I immediately doubt their ability to determine for everyone else what constitutes adherence to the guidelines.
Yeah I need to find out where he can get a rapid test. I know that CVS and other places have tests but not sure how to figure out if they're rapid tests or not.
took my younger one (8th grade) for random coronavirus testing at her school now that they are open 5 days/week.
she tells me that classes are about 50% capacity as many kids/families are choosing to stay home and keep their kids virtual

As I was eating lunch a police helicopter was circling overhead. I just read that Biden visited Arlington Cemetery (which is next door) after his announcement about troops leaving Afghanistan.
Someone noted the good outing Joe Ross had against the Dodgers last week. Another six scoreless against the Cards this afternoon. A good start to his season after opting out last year.
Entering Tuesday night’s game between the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds, four things were true. Well, basically infinite things were and are true, but four things pertinent to the soon to be revealed game narrative were true.
The first true thing is that the Reds led the league in home runs, with 18 through 10 games.
The second true thing is that, in 12 starts in a Giants jersey, Kevin Gausman had allowed just 2 first inning runs.
A Joey Votto and a Mike Moustakas dinger later, and Gausman had given up 4 first inning runs, just like that. Those Reds homers are no joke, and for the first time this season, Gausman looked fallible.
I'm curious to see how Snell pitches this year. Really he's only had two good years right? The Cy Young year and last year, kinda. Similarly, I'm not sure if Darvish can keep up how well he pitched last year. I think the Padres will be a bit disappointed.
Although I'm not sure the Giants pitching can keep it up either.
The Dodgers badgered Antonio Senzatela for the second time in 12 days, rolling behind Trevor Bauer in a 7-0 win over the Rockies on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
Scoring started early for the Dodgers, thanks to home runs by Corey Seager and Chris Taylor in a span of three pitches in the first inning. It was the first home run of the season for Seager, who also hit his fifth double and walked.
Mookie Betts — who noted the Dodgers’ 3-1 record in the four games he missed over the previous six days and quipped, “I think that just shows how deep we are, and we don’t really need me” — welcomed himself back into the lineup with a towering home run to left field in the third.
A's defeat D-Backs 7-5 after trailing 5-0 at one point. Ageless Jed Lowrie socks a three-run homer to tie the game, Seth Brown follows with a titanic solo blast in the 8th inning which puts the A's ahead. In the top of the ninth Matt Chapman triples off the center field wall, providing an insurance run.
The Oakland A’s lineup kept humming on Tuesday, as the green-and-gold earned a 7-5 comeback victory to complete a two-game road sweep of the Arizona D’Backs and extend their overall winning streak to four. The A’s have scored 29 runs in those four consecutive triumphs.
While the final result was familiar, this game followed a script we haven’t yet seen in 2021. The A’s fell behind early, spotting Arizona a 5-0 lead by the 2nd inning. But the D’Backs never scored again, and Oakland launched a late comeback against the bullpen that put them over the top plus insurance.
Newellbany and I booked our Southwest flights to Dallas for the TCU game...we're sticking thru Monday for the Rangers game to knock the new Globe Life Stadium off our ballpark list, if anyone's interested.
True, but by virtue of being a dome, even retractable, it's unfortunately automatically disqualified from being in my top 20. Globe Life will be Major League ballpark #47, and I'm sure it's very nice, but baseball is meant to be played outdoors...
I agree. My coworker took me to a game at the Skydome when I visited a site outside Toronto. This was around 1998 or so. It was in a dome so strike 1. I also asked if they have malts and he says, "you mean like beer?" strike 2. Though, indoors or oppressive September heat in Texas.
Oh...I might be. I went to the old ballpark Sept of 2019 before they closed it down. The game is Mon night I assume. I still haven't bought my tickets yet since United wants 375 round trip. Worst case I'll use my miles but I was going to wait a while.
As a matter of fact, Southwest's inaugural flight out of Santa Barbara was yesterday...talk about a game-changer for the Chitwood/Cal travel schedule...
Entertainment and Culture news: Twitch streamer Ludwig Ahgren who goes by Ludwig on Twitch and Youtube breaks Tyler Blevins or "Ninja"'s record for most accrued paid monthly subscriptions today, on the last possible day before subscriptions reset, beating Ninja's record of 269,154 active subs with a new record of 282,189 active subs, a crazy feat for what he's done. Unlike Youtube where subscribing is just a button and a number, Twitch subscriptions directly give money to streamers as support for content (Free Amazon Prime, Tier 1 $4.99, Tier 2 $9.99, and Tier 3 $24.99)so this new record of 282,189 subs is something remarkable.
Furthermore, Ludwig was in the midst of doing a subathon, an event on twitch where if you subscribe a set timer adds time to the amount of time you need to stream for. Initially he thought he would go 24 to 48 hours but once his chat built this up and teased for several days of ending before subscribing (I follow his channel but don't sub because of money), he was off to the races, capping the subscription marathon at 31 days (a few hours ago) as to not be held hostage by his chat with the renewal subscriptions that would occur starting today.
For those who have kids in high school and college, you know the impact and outlet Twitch can have and even for those of you on here who understand Twitch, it was amazing to see someone come so far (started the subathon with 36k subs) and create such an event for the world to see. I for one am glad as a member of that community that he's got that damn respect and will be all over the news locally and on the Internet. I suggest googling about this event because it was truly a sight to see, especially since Ludwig won't ever do it again.

They're using the California Dept of Health close contact guidelines.

Transparency is key.
Nope. All we got was that there weren't any symptoms at the game and he was tested on Tues.
I think they're just closing their eyes and hoping no one gets it. They aren't even asking the kids to get a test.
I would get #3 tested, just to be safe. No harm in doing so.
That's just unfortunate. Not that it matters, but I agree with your view of the situation.
Yeah I need to find out where he can get a rapid test. I know that CVS and other places have tests but not sure how to figure out if they're rapid tests or not.
Regular tests are coming back in 24 hours right now, and are more accurate.
