For Graduation, Cal Students Build ‘Blockeley University’ in Minecraft
What do you do if you’re a college senior with a sense of humor, a canceled graduation and, suddenly, a lot of spare time?
On March 15, UC Berkeley senior Bjorn Lustic got the idea to recreate his graduation in Minecraft, a video game where the objective is to build structures by placing blocks around a 3D environment. He cites a sarcastic Facebook comment as the source of inspiration. A month, a few more Facebook posts and several thousand likes later, the project has grown into a full-scale recreation of the UC Berkeley campus with a waiting list of students trying to get in on the fun of construction.
When IRL events started to disappear around campus, students, like everyone else, turned to the internet. “It’s kind of a natural thing at this point to look online and look to virtual communities to hang out, that’s what we’re used to,” Lustic says.
Heard about this via band channels; not surprisingly the Cal band is involved in helping. This is a great idea, and one that could catch on on a wide spread basis.
A friend just posted a recommendation for Circus of Books, and I looked up the description. It sounds fascinating! Have any of you watched it?

I mostly read mysteries and popular fiction so can usually kind of just go on autopilot. I've started this and though it does have a story line it's got me thinking a lot more than I often have to. Which is a good thing.

Just a bunch of techy/entrepreneur-y types that blog about how innovative and great they are and everyone else is so far behind. I saw a post (screenshot on twitter) of someone praising themselves for giving their staff a "self-care power hour" during the middle of the day to do what they need to take care of themselves. They meant a lunch break.
The worst part about LI is people treat it like FB, and say the same racist/misogynistic shit. With their professional careers tied to said accounts. It's mind-boggling.
dude, I told you. Its an absolutely beautiful, powerful story. Slow paced but the pace feels right and each episode is really impactful. The chemistry between the 2 leads is off the charts too. One of my favorite k dramas of all time
A month ago, I adopted a DBD topic of having a bit of butter sitting outside the fridge at room temperature. I kept putting some out and it kept being put back in the fridge. My explanation to the wife and eventual purchase of a butter crock was met with derision and mockery. Let it be known that today, the butter crock is empty and all the Kerry Gold butter has been eaten. The wife has fully adopted my counter-butter campaign. For those of you who've been in any form of relationship, getting someone to completely reverse their mind is something worthy of note.

How misguided that is is both debatable and un-determinable at this point, but the fact that jobs and careers and scholarships and more have already been lost, and many more will be the longer this goes on, is not. The fact of the matter is there are a number of people who do not care if there are deaths, and they vote and write checks too.
I'm nervous as all get out about it no matter which way it goes because disaster could result in any event, and we don't have nearly enough information to make the best of decisions. Not the least of which is intentionally limited demographic info that might (pc for would) prove to be politically inconvenient.
