No.

The two UDFA prospects were Traveon Beck and Jordan Duncan. To date, neither were signed. If Beck was a few inches taller, someone would give him a chance. He still might get a chance. Duncan's football career is probably over.

I prefer the Harry Potter movies to the books. The books get incredibly difficult to read, as they get longer and JK Rowling's sense of prose does not improve over time.

The more famous she got, the less she was edited and yet the more she needed it

Expand full comment

I'm of two minds - the back half of the book series isn't great . . . but some of the movies really miss the point of the books AND Gambon isn't a great Dumbledore.

It gets a lot of crap, but the Lord of The Rings Trilogy of movies was a pretty good telling of the story.

I loved the books and the movies. The movies were just a bit long, especially the end to three. My only real gripe is that The Hobbit could have been 2 movies, but they needed to add a bunch of content/characters to extend it to 3 and get more marketing material.

Tests show that my dad did not have CV19. Standard case of an old, weak, immunocompromised guy who got a really bad case of pneumonia. He had given up in life - too weak to sit up, talk, or even read - so he was trapped in his own body. This was the "best-worst" thing to happen. Quick. Painless.

Thanks to y'all who said something nice. I'm glad a few of you got to meet him.

Once, a pencil-necked 'furdie got shitty my Dad after taking food from his Big Game tailgate and then threw the food at my step-mother when confronted. At the time, my dad was a 230 pound body-building hulk. Making him mad was not advisable. That weenie got his ass lightly beaten amidst the eucalyptus trees and was forced to apologize by the scruff of his neck in front of the tailgate crowd.

Is ReOpen the right-wing version of Occupy?

Expand full comment

It's not like they're opening everything to everyone at 100% clip.

I'm a Texan now and completely fine with the reopening in phases. The phases allow businesses to get back in a safe matter while measuring/shutting off any issues that arise. It's up to the businesses and people if they'd choose to go or not. My choice is to stay home for the time being and allow others to operate as long as it's in the realm of public safety.

Expand full comment

I’m in Bay Area and share this view.

Expand full comment

You know it's not about "re-opening for business" - it's about getting people off unemployment.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) said in her state, it will be considered a “voluntary quit” if an employee refuses to return to work once businesses reopen, thereby losing access to unemployment benefits.

A similar situation will soon play out in Texas.

One of the local Starbucks standalone stores re-opened today. You can't go inside but they set up a table just inside the doorway to take your order and payment. They marked out Three boxes on the sidewalk for people to stand in while waiting for their drink. Doesn't seem ideal for those of us walking by to go to the store or while exercising.

Ours works like this, but you have to order from the app. Never more than one person outside waiting.

I didn't know anything about what the "3 Percenters" were before now, but looking them up it seems like they are a quasi-militia "anti government" group that is not explicitly white supremacist? Is there more to indicate they are actually a white supremacist group?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's plenty of crossover with white supremacists, but I can't be sure that's what this guy ever subscribed to.

17 + the free space...I've never been scared by Oski, I don't have a pet, no photo with the Axe (yet), didn't get to see J-Kidd play live (I was there when Cal retired his jersey) nor met Marshawn (not counting seeing him play at Memorial), and as much as I love Cal sports, I didn't really care for more organized fandom like the Rally Comm nor going to a bonfire rally (I rather go to basketball or volleyball games at the same nights). As for the spaces that I got, I easily did most things there multiple times, including if you count a double major as "graduated from Cal" twice.

19, if startled by Oski counts. He (she?) was standing right behind me in the aisle of a football game trying to get around me while I was in conversation. I turned, was startled, and lived to tell about it. No rally comm, no pets, no photos or autographs, no Marshawn.

Plato and the ancient Greeks on soulmates ...

It is said that in the beginning of time, when humans were first created, they had a form different to that they have today. They were both man and woman, had four arms, four legs and a single head made of two faces.

And there was a time that humans were very powerful creatures, fearless and strong, and even dared to threat the Gods. They threatened to conquer them and rule in their stead, and become the new Gods.

So Zeus came up with [a] solution. They would split the humans in half and punish them for their pride and hubris. Apart from the pain that would cause them, they would also double the population of humans, hence doubling the tributes that had to be made to them by humans. And so they did and the humans everywhere split in two.

Apollo, God of music, truth and prophecy, healing, and light, could not bear see them like this, so to ease their pain, he sewed them up, reconstituted their body forms and just left the navel as the only reminder of their original form. So, humans went from double face and double sex creatures with eight limbs, to single faced ones of a single sex, with two arms and two legs.

*** And they forever longed for their soul and physical other half. ***

Their physical nature would feel a burning desire to be completed with the physical nature of the other sex, and their soul alike would yearn for their soul’s other half be complete, their soulmate. And according to the myth, when these two halves find each other, there will be a silent understanding of one another, they will feel joined and exist with each other in unison and will know no greater joy than that.
