The other day for my daily long walk, I downloaded several Husky related podcasts where I would first listen to the preview and prediction of the Cal game last year and then listen to their post game versions. Much out loud chuckling.
So I was up at the Lair for the ‘19 Bear Music Fest and missed the game entirely due to the extremely spotty reception in Pinecrest, as well as some other assorted sundries that sent me to slumber a little earlier than expected. Nothing like hearing the results the following morning whilst enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck of Blue Lodge...I’m pumped for 2020.
@KayteSB: Wow. The BTK killer was identified by forensic testing of his daughter's *pap smear* from her university clinic.
As we reconsider the police's role in a just society, good reminder that data + specimen privacy (+ the line bw healthcare + forensics) is more important than ever.
If y'all are ever out in the Raleigh NC area, go to Backyard BBQ in Durham. It was featured on Man vs. Food in the Raleigh show. Ramshackle hut with sassy service and amazing fruitwood slow smoked pulled pork (aka "BBQ" in NC) and mac-n-cheese.
NICE!! I will put on the travel list for a lunch stop on the 2020 summer Road Trip...will try to work it into the Sherman “Carolina’s Campaign” battle, which is 1 of the 14 engagements on my Civil War list...Raleigh/Durham, Bentonville, Columbia, S.C...
I had a strange conversation with a woman working at the same summer camp as my wife who was genuinely puzzled about the peas in guacamole controversy “because I’m a vegetarian and I appreciate the additional plant protein.” You won’t be wholly surprised to learn that she was from Vermont.
I think you could say that, they have very different ideas about how to run a state. Except for the relative tyranny of state blue laws, somehow Vermont managed to get to licensed Liquor stores rather than State run
After much much procrastination, I have finally baked my first banana bread ever this past weekend. I know, this was all the rage like a lifetime (12 weeks or so) ago.
Oohhh...that looks good. I'll bookmark this one. Am not sure about putting cream cheese in though. But I'll try it. I'll have to halve the recipe since I only have one loaf pan.
I made my first one a couple of weeks ago and No 2 loves them. I use this recipe. Initially I hesitated because it uses flavorless oil instead of butter. But the resulting banana bread is good. My usual goto sites are kitchn or Martha Stewart. I may try one of their recipes next.
Nice! I tried making my first one last year and it turned out remarkably tasty, even share-able with my sis and her family, so I thought this baking thing is easy. Next one was pretty solid as well...at the same level, maybe a titch below the previous one. Then I tried one with coconut flower that I had on-hand and it was an un-mitigated disaster...just awful. So for my most recent one during this COVID s.i.p., I went back to basics, followed the directions to a ‘T’, and was rewarded with a nice, clean, well-made loaf of banana bread.
Basically, a microcosm of the last 12 years of leadership of the Cal Men’s Basketball program...
Eh, tell Sohla to be honest. She doesn't get extra money for video because she's a salaried employee and it's part of her job. Claire gets money for video because she's not on staff so she gets discrete money for each thing she does. If Sohla didn't like the salary and level of her role, she shouldn't have taken the job. It's not like she's been there forever and all of the sudden all these kids got brought in above her for more cash.
I took a walk down near Lafayette Park late this afternoon to see the signs on the fence before they take it down tomorrow. There were a few hundred people milling around but no real protest going on. It will be interesting to see if real protest returns after the park is open and folks can get back onto Pennsylvania Avenue. The DC Police were a couple blocks away and I saw some what appeared to be Natl Guard another couple blocks out but down near the park it was free from law enforcement.
Trump also thought Byron Russell fell harder than he was pushed too. I just watched the last two episodes of The Last Dance so this was fresh on my mind.
We went to a drive through graduation event yesterday for my older daughter - the idea was to decorate cars and get pictures taken hanging out of windows and sunroofs and honk and cheer and such. There was one car decked out with Cal stuff.
I saw that on the local news last night. One of the graduates moms works for the local Fox station so they did a brief story and I saw the Cal car and flag. Not sure if the reporters daughter is the one going to Cal.

Arizona and Oregon State are in tier 5 with Zona listed as the "closest to move up".
Satisfying entertainment.

Hmmmm... Wasn't he caught in the 70's?
No, he was caught in the last couple of years.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Rader
You're thinking of the California guy, but I was wrong about when this guy was caught
Oh yeah! I was thinking of the Golden State Killer. He was caught in 2018 after his relatives shared their DNA on one of those ancestry sites:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_State_Killer
Also with the aid of Patton Oswalt's departed wife who helped re-open the case.
Also the BTK killer was in the Netfilx show "Mindhunter" which is an excellent show, 2 seasons.
I somehow missed DBDing at all yesterday, but congratulations to Bk on the bébé!!!
Thanks!
Now we just need to decide Cf-98 or Cf-249
Speaking of baby names: https://twitter.com/bijanstephen/status/1270416808802164739?s=20
well I guess we should let Bk97 decide...
I haven't yet decided which I prefer.
I haven't decided if it should be your choice or the DBD's choice. /s
Name a song that should be included in the DBD's protest playlist
The Decline - NoFX
What's Going On -- Marvin Gaye
Wake Up Everybody -- Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes
RTJ - Ooh La La
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sff7Kc77QAY
This is my daily reminder that I need to download RTJ4
My reminder was the ending to S3 of Ozark haha. The beat to this track just gets me going.
Fuck the Police- NWA
Fuck Police Brutality- Anti Flag
Wild in the Streets- Circel Jerks
Sound of da Police- KRS-One
Protest and Survive- Discharge
Fight the Power- Public Enemy
Get up Stand Up- The Wailers
Know Your Enemy- RATM
Give It Revolution- Suicidal Tendencies
No More Cops- MDC
Know Your Rights- The Clash
Pork and Beef- The Coup
I'd add "Suspect Device" by Stiff Little Fingers even though not directly on issue.
I’d suggest “burnin and lootin” and “you can’t blame the youth” by Bob Marley.
Respect.
Blowing in the Wind.

Will do!
Would love to meet Crash Davis, Annie Savoy and the Bulls crew...are Millie and Jimmy still together? ;-).
Cooked chicken fajitas in the slow cooker yesterday, 6 hours cooking time. Delish.
Lemon Tart
Many people have been rightfully calling out the NYTimes, but I mean, c'mon, who didn't see this coming when they put peas in guacamole???
(I am dying on this hill.)

AGH!
Also, do Vermont and New Hampshire have a rivalry?

It sounds like she's tried to get the same external contract with Conde Nast multiple times. It also sounds like she's not the only example.

Cal
We went to a drive through graduation event yesterday for my older daughter - the idea was to decorate cars and get pictures taken hanging out of windows and sunroofs and honk and cheer and such. There was one car decked out with Cal stuff.
1) GO BEARS!
2) Congratulations to your daughter!
And that car was yours?
Ha! No.
I saw that on the local news last night. One of the graduates moms works for the local Fox station so they did a brief story and I saw the Cal car and flag. Not sure if the reporters daughter is the one going to Cal.
Ha! I thought I saw a news camera but hadn’t done anything like check to see if there had been a story.
It's an ESPN+ article, but Cal is listed in Tier 4 (of 5) in college football coaching job. For other Pac-12 schools, USC is tier 1, UW and Oregon are tier 2, ASU, Stanford, Utah, and UCLA are tier 3. WSU and Colorado are with us in tier 4.
