Business ethics 101

When web revenues are sagging, do you:

a) brainstorm and then execute on interesting new content

b) expend into new channels like podcasts, newsletters, and such

c) use fictitious accounts to create disingenuous interactions (aka the "Ashley Madison")

Oh, they had a little party down in Newport;

There was Harry, there was Mary, there was Grace.

Oh, they had a little party down in Newport,

And they had to carry Harry from the place.

Oh, they had to carry Harry to the ferry,

And the ferry carried Harry to the shore;

And the reason that they had to carry Harry to the ferry

Was that Harry couldn’t carry any more.

For California, for California,

The hills send back the cry,

We’re out to do or die,

For California, for California,

We’ll win the game or know the reason why.

And when the game is over, we will buy a keg of booze,

And drink to California ‘till we wobble in our shoes.

So drink, tra la la,

Drink, tra la la,

Drink, drank, drunk last night,

Drunk the night before;

Gonna get drunk tonight

Like I never got drunk before;

For when I’m drunk, I’m as happy as can be

For I am member of the Souse family.

Now the Souse family is the best family

That ever came over from old Germany.

There’s the Highland Dutch, and the Lowland Dutch,

The Rotterdam Dutch, and the Irish.

Sing glorious, victorious,

One keg of beer for the four of us.

Sing glory be to God that there are no more of us,

For one of us could drink it all alone. Damn near.

Here’s to the Irish, dead drunk. The lucky stiffs….

I suspect that our oldest son's GF doesn't like corn on the cob. We were celebrating our youngest's birthday this past Sunday. The menu included burgers, mac salad, and corn on the cob. I brought out the corncob holders (aka little stabby things) and offered them to everyone. The GF declined a pair of little stabby things. There was no corn on the cob on her plate.

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said the departure will be “phased.”

By Sara Boboltz

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced Wednesday that the federal officers brought in to quell anti-racism protests in Portland will leave the city after weeks of violent clashes with demonstrators.

“These federal officers have acted as an occupying force, refused accountability, and brought violence and strife to our community,” Brown said in a statement.

“After discussions with the Vice President and administration officials this week, the federal government has agreed to my demand and will withdraw these officers from Portland. They will also clean up the Courthouse, removing the graffiti.”"

We already knew that Aaron Rodgers wasn’t “thrilled” when his Green Bay Packers traded up in the first round of the NFL draft back in April to select his heir apparent, Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.

What we didn’t know was that while the Packers were looking to provide their future Hall of Famer with some stiff competition, Rodgers was fixing himself a stiff drink.

In a portion of a Ringer podcast that was released Tuesday, Rodgers said he was following the draft and “perked up” when he saw that Green Bay made a move from the 30th spot to the 26th. Because of delays in the telecast, which was held remotely amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, Rodgers said the first news about the Packers’ pick came from his agent, who sent him a text with a simple but potentially ominous message: “Quarterback.”

“I was like: ‘Oh, wow. Okay,’ ” Rodgers said. “I love Scotch, but I’ve been drinking some sipping tequila lately as well.

“And once I got that text, I went to the pantry and poured myself about four fingers. I knew it was going to be one of those nights where people were going to start calling.”
