I finally got my return trip ticket after I decided not to go to Philly after the game.

Now I need to find a place to stay. Trying to decide if I should AirBNB near the stadium $$$$ or just get a hotel away from there. Since I'm going to the baseball game, I wonder if I should look near there.

We're at an AirBnB a mile from the TCU football stadium if that helps.

Could I park at your place if I stay further away?

is a very nice place. in fact we are seriously thinking of a second home up here.

any 2nd home advice? do's? dont's?

we are working remotely here all week and enjoying the outdoors as well as the amenities of a pretty nice little town w/ just enough good food and vibrant downtown

Expand full comment
author

If I'm not mistaken, Burlington is a really long drive for you. Long drives are a serious barrier. It turns a house from a weekender to a seasonal home. Seasonal homes are best rented by the week rather than purchased because the opportunity + operating costs outweigh rental costs.

Expand full comment

it is about 5 hours. i agree it is far for weekends which is sort of why we never got a weekend ski place in the northeast.

but the idea w/ more and more remote work is to be at 2nd home for stretches of 5-10 days in multiple seasons ...

and as kids go off to college, we would spend even longer stretches and more often

Dodgers wild and sloppy in dropping second straight to Marlins

https://www.truebluela.com/2021/7/6/22566014/dodgers-marlins-sloppy-play-no-offense-losing-streak

A game that featured three total runs somehow lasted four and a half hours, a maddening affair by two teams, had to have a winner. After several fledgling attempts by both sides, the Marlins got their second straight win over the Dodgers, this one 2-1 in 10 innings thanks to a wild pitch and throwing error on Tuesday night in Miami.

Blake Treinen, who got the final out of the ninth inning, got the first two outs in the bottom of the 10th with the free runner on second. But a wild pitch allowed Starling Marte to reach third base, exacerbated by a bad throw by catcher Will Smith that got away from Justin Turner at third base, sending Marte home with the game winner.
