"Gretchen Whitmer Drops Hilarious Hot Mic F-Bomb Just Seconds Before DNC Speech
Someone definitely knows it was Shark Week.
By Ed Mazza
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) delivered a scathing indictment of President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic on Monday for the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. <snip>
“It’s not just Shark Week,” Whitmer said during the hot-mic pre-speech moment posted online by The Recount. “It’s Shark Week, motherfuckers.” "
Breaking: Amid intense scrutiny, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said that he is expanding a task force on election mail and he expects the Postal Service to deliver “election mail on time and within our well-established service standards.”
He said retail hours would not be changed, neither mail-sorting machines nor blue mailboxes would be removed, no mail-processing facilities would be closed, and that overtime would be available as needed.
Though, I don't think the actual postal workers want to do this, so they can't really do it secretly. Someone will speak out and raise a fuss pretty quickly.
I've never seen such a political blunder, absolute self-own.
"Maryland is signing on to a suit led by Washington state that is expected to be filed at 2 p.m. Tuesday and also includes Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to a draft obtained by The Post. The lawsuit names Trump as a defendant, along with the Postal Service and DeJoy.
Separately, Pennsylvania is filing another suit against the Postal Service, joined by California, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts and North Carolina, among others."
This seems partly like election shenanigans and partly like MBA decision making. Older more distributed populations aren’t profitable so they should get less service. Obviously.
Rural people, older people, and the military, all pretty important constituencies for Republicans. As usual, the Trump team does not think things through.

Saban has declined to say whether any of his players had decided to opt out of the season, reiterating that everyone has been told that "you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with."
"We're going to keep all those issues internal to our team," Saban said after practice Monday. "The players have asked me to do that, and I agree with them."
BTW I put there here because Bama really is a Pro team...
It's interesting that Saban is willing to keep it a secret which players opted out but as soon as they play a game and a starter or significant contributor doesn't play, there will be discussions if they opted out or are hurt.
I wonder if they will try to keep players who test positive for Rona a secret. I also believe they will let players play even though they are positive for Rona.
Monday had all the ingredients of a textbook 2020 A’s win, except for a crucial one at the end. They fell behind against the opposing starter, then caught up against the bullpen to tie it. However, this time they couldn’t come up with the winning run in time to push over the top to victory, and the Arizona Diamondbacks got there first for a 4-3 walk-off at Chase Field.
It took the A’s a while to get going, as Arizona starter Zac Gallen carried a no-hitter through five innings. Oakland finally earned a couple singles in the 6th to break up the no-no, and they found their way onto the scoreboard in the 7th with a solo homer by Robbie Grossman, who continues to be one of the hottest hitters in the league (194 wRC+).
On the other side of the ball, A’s starter Chris Bassitt wasn’t his sharpest but still gutted his way into the 6th while keeping the game within reach. His lineup got him off the hook by rallying for a pair of runs in the 8th, but in a rare letdown the bullpen wasn’t able to hold on long enough for the offense to finish the job.
For the first two games of this series, I wrote the recap during the game. I absolutely learned my lesson there. The recaps I was writing well into the ninth inning of those games were glowing, singling out impressive Giants performances and heroes we could give a chuck on the chin for a job well done.
Then Trevor Gott blew two catastrophic, historical ninth-inning leads in two straight games. In the moment on Saturday’s game — in the moment — many questions Kapler’s decision to send Gott back out in a save situation the day after giving up a backbreaking blown save in his longest outing of the year, even with a cushion of a few runs. The Giants managed to do the decent thing and get blown out on Sunday, but pretty much everyone assumed that, even though there aren’t a lot of options available, certainly Kapler wouldn’t be turning to Gott in a save situation again any time soon. That’s not any way to build confidence, either for Gott or for his teammates.
And then on Monday night, with a one-run lead and three outs to get against one of the most fearsome lineups in baseball, Gabe Kapler sent Trevor Gott to the mound to get a save.
The Angels defeated the Giants in the series opener by a final score of 7-6.
Giants got a solid win today, and apparently looked good doing it. They are the definition of erratic, which usually really means a lack of depth and breadth.
Not sure if the game was held at Dodger Stadium or Coors Field on Monday night. In total, there were a combined 20 runs scored on 26 hits. Luckily for the Dodgers, their offense prevailed, defeating the Mariners, 11-9.
Right out of the gate, it was an offensive onslaught. The Mariners jumped on the board first as both Kyle Seager and Austin Nola brought in runs with singles, putting them up 2-0. Their lead was quickly cut in half, as Mookie Betts hit a leadoff homer in the bottom half of the inning. It’s the 21st time in his career he’s hit a leadoff homer. Yeah, that guy is pretty good.
