The Colorado Buffaloes have found their new coach, and itโs big one. Deion Sanders is coming to Boulder.
It has to be a very happy moment for Colorado fans, who at last have an exciting hire to galvanize behind. The Buffs have been in football hell for the modern era, with only one winning non-shortened season since 2006. Sanders represents a truly ambitious hire for the Buffs, who will at least make Colorado something worth talking about on Saturdays for the first time in forever. If you donโt know if you canโt be great, why not be interesting?
Sanders is completing a three year stint at Jackson State, culminating in a 27-5 record and an undefeated 2022 campaign, going 12-0 and winning his second straight SWAC Championship on Saturday. Jackson State had previously won one conference title in the 25 years before Sanders arrived, so he has made his presence and celebrity persona larger than life.
Sanders is likely to take a host of Jackson State staffers and players with him to Boulder, including his sons, starting quarterback and potential NFL draft prospect Shedeur Sanders, and defensive back Shilo Sanders. Also cornerback Travis Hunter (consensus number-one 2022 recruit) is likely the next priority to bring over as well.
The Conference of Champions continues to get more competitive than ever. What do you think of the Sanders hire?
Super risky move, but great for Colorado. Hard to tell how good of a coach Deion is, considering he just completely out-talented everyone at JSU.
