Justin Draper Wilcox doesn’t care about offense.

One minor point, I feel like Baldwin was about to be fired or relieved of his duties and was strongly encouraged to find a new job.

bring back the bear raid

GoldenHair: NO WAY!!!! The Bear Raid featured an elite offense and absolutely putrid defense, which was constantly gassed because as soon as they got off the field, we would quickly score and they were right back out there. Under Sonny, our defenses couldn't stop a sneeze! By the way, the same thing seems to be happening to him all over again at TCU and Baylor is currently 2-4! It doesn't seem like picking up Spavital has helped them too much. Defense will always get you further than offense. We just have to find a way to get to at least a respectable offense and then good things will happen.

Getting a real head coach who hires the right assistants. Wilcox is a defensive coordinator and Dykes is a offensive coordinator.

bring back the offense part of the bear raid?

Absolutely. I think that is what Wilcox has been trying to do for a while but he just keeps missing with these OC hires.

Piotr, can you teach us a little bit about this common scenario?

Scenario: Frequently when #1 is in, the offense comes into formation and he'll go and say some things to the interior OL players and then come back to #15's side. Now, it seems like #25 is able to do that as well (I've not seen #2 do this yet, but could be wrong). What are the RBs saying to the OL? Is he calling out potential LB blitzers?

I am not in the meetings so I can hypothesize but I presume he's helping Nando to tell the OL about the change in protections and cadence when Nando is receiving the change of play. Or if given the freedom, Bloesch gives Nando two calls in the huddle and Nando can kill the first call to go to the second call and then the RB comes to the OL relay that info. But this is a good observation!

Wilcox will never lead Cal to a 9 or 10 win season. If we are ok with mediocrity then let Wilcox continue to be the head coach. If not, then fire him after the season.

He's a good defensive coordinator not a head coach.

Since this segment is all about the statistics, I’d say 8 1/2 years is a pretty robust sample size demonstrating this.

It’s actually 7.5 years but point well taken. I’ve seen a lot of comments on this site quoting 8.5 so wanted to set the record straight

Feels like an eternity and I’m ready for a change but I’m concerned about what we can afford and if we’d be better off investing in a better OL vs a new coach. Or a high end OC. It will cost a lot to buy out JW and unlike pre NIL, coaches have less monopolistic power over recruits

Rolovich is out there but that's a wild card. He's a good coach and very cheap.
