Thank you for this article and all the many previews you have done so well in the past. I never felt that I could fully observe, enjoy, and yell with confidence during a Cal game unless I had read through your preview before the game. You are the best! Having gone through the decline and ultimate loss of both my parents, who passed with me at their bedside, I appreciate your good words and practical advice regarding ageing and care for our parents. I wish you the very best in all you do. Sincerely, thank you.
Christopher, we all love your writing and clips immeasurably and are rooting for you and your family. This point: "If your child had to step in and care for you tomorrow, would they be able to do it? " is so critical. In our American culture, somehow we don't want to discuss this. And really we should all be doing this sooner than anyone wants to.
Christopher, thanks for your writing. It is to an Extremely high standard. It will be missed and perhaps you can pick it up at some point in the future when you have more time.
I’m glad you used this platform to advocate for long term care planning. It is something many people overlook and then find themselves in the midst of a crisis with little to no preparation, and even worse, little to no resources. We live in a country with very unevenly distributed healthcare. Some people are left with nothing, and planning ahead can put you in the best possible position to access care.
Thank you for your writing and, importantly, your messaging about caring for parents. We went through it and learned a lot such that we have taken steps to make it way easier on our kids.
Oh Christopher, thank you so much for trusting your WFC community with your heartfelt story. We can all learn from it. Selfishly, you will be dearly missed. Your encyclopedic analyses are best in class. I wish you and family nothing but the best. You are a good son.
Fantastic article, and I appreciate your heartfelt pleas for folks to be prepared for dealing with the family access and other issues associated with declining health/sudden loss of acuity. It is sad how folks neglect the steps needed in preparing for these issues on the part of a loved one. And I have elders in my family currently who are in denial about the importance of seeing a financial planner or even having a will. I view my own creation of written end of life plans, completion of medical power of attorney documentation, etc. as a gift to my survivors.
Thanks buddy, your game previews are must read, and very much keeping in the long tradition of excellence at WFC and CGB before it. I'm always able to view upcoming games with a much more keen eye thanks to your hard work and dedication.
Christopher, thanks for all of your contributions to WFC. Your thoroughness and wit is treasured. I've had a similar experience with my dad that was, unfortunately, made exponential by one of my bat shit crazy siblings.
Certainly you will care for your parents with the same level of detail and passion that you have displayed here for multiple years. Have faith in yourself as you navigate these difficult times. Take care, for you are a true blue.
Chris, thanks very much for the OUTSTANDING contributions to CGB and then W4C over the years, we all really do appreciate it even if I've not commented before. Your efforts significantly increase my level of preparation and ultimately enjoyment of Cal football.
Very sorry to hear about your parents but respect greatly your willingness to share the challenges you are facing for the rest of us to learn from. Take care.
Thank you for all your dedication, especially with all your very difficult family responsibilities. Agree with everything you said about having a plan for yourself and others.
Regarding football, I hope we can generate pressure with our pass rush.
Yeah, even without Harris, Alejado has so many targets that are capable of shredding a defense via various dinks and dunks. A pass rush will be essential to slow this down.

Chris,
Thank you for your contributions!
On the topic of preparing for death, there is a good book on this topic.
The father of one of the co-authors was a Berkeley professor.
A Beginner's Guide to the End: Practical Advice for Living Life and Facing Death
by Dr. BJ Miller (Author), Shoshana Berger (Author)
