Losing any OL commit sucks because we know it's our biggest weakness but he seemed more like a project to me than an immediate contributor. I dunno, something seemed off that triggered my skepticism and was hoping to hear some details from the coaches.

I do think we could have been a better team with him but I'm not losing sleep over this. Hopefully we still have other promising options.

Brutal. My vote is to have BRETT JOHNSON play both ways

My guess is Brandon jones poached him away. Jones was the o line coach at Houston then left for mizzou.

Plus it's closer to home. Given how many positions he's played I can also understand him wanting some stability.

my initial reaction to news like this is always "Academics" but you're right, could be NIL fall apart or a better offer from somewhere else.

He's not the first recruit, current player, or graduate to make grammatical or spelling mistakes in a tweet but the bias is understandable when they're present. Even if someone figured out the easiest path to graduate, it's still not easy.

No coverage of Taj Davis? Seems like a pretty solid get at WR

The only source on Taj Davis' commitment is a random twitter account. I'm pretty shocked that Curtis would report that, he seems better than that. If something more official gets announced, we'll be sure to report it.

Tough news…it’s a key position group that remains full of obvious questions such that losing the, what, 4 pieces (?) they’ve lost unfortunately stands out, regardless of the role or impact those guys were to play. Confident in the improved coaching of technique, but hopefully more bodies are on the way.

What am I missing - why not speculate regarding the cause of his decommitment?

These are professional athletes. I would have been a lot more sympathetic a couple of years ago towards a perceived need for those sorts of protective measures, but now that we are being asked to directly pay for these athletes to participate in Cal Athletics...
