Jaydn Ott, four-star Norco RB, recommits to Cal
Welcome back Jaydn. The running back is now the top-ranked commit in the 2022 class.
In likely the last piece of significant recruiting news for Cal on Early Signing Day, Jaydn Ott has returned to the fold to be a California Golden Bear.
Ott picked Cal over Colorado, Oregon State, Wisconsin, and USC. Ott also expressed interest in BYU with a visit and checked out UNLV (his mother lives in Vegas). Ott decided to take his time in the recruiting process after decommitting from the Bears in the summer.
Here is the official video of Ott committing.
More from the article with Biggins.
“I just felt like Cal was the best place for me as a player and a person,” Ott said. “I love the coaching staff and really vibe well with them.
“I have a strong relationship with coach AT (Aristotle Thompson, RB coach) and we always stayed in contact, even after I de-committed. It was important that I never burned any bridges there, I committed there before I visited anywhere else so when I de-committed, they understood and we still were good with each other.”
Ott is currently ranked by 247Sports Composite as the 25th best running back in the nation and the 25th best prospect in California. He will be Cal’s top prospect in the 2022 class. Here is his Hudl tape from his senior season.
This is Cal’s second running back commit in the week, as Reno running back Ashton Hayes flipped from Nebraska to California earlier. Kudos to Cal running back coach Aristotle Thompson for two huge commitments that will ensure consistent running back depth for the foreseeable future.
Welcome back Jaydn! Go Bears!
That "Ott to" do it for the the RB position. ( I can practically hear all your laughter.)
Key risk is whether he'll stay. A HS freshman who transferred to a national powerhouse, who then didn't start, and then transfers back to the place where he's from so that he can get off the bench. As a recruit, he commits to Oregon, decommits, commits to Cal, decommits, and then recommits.
