Sort of amazing that Baldwin has landed another role as sage mentor to a coordinator recently turned head coach. Basically bringing in an OC to run the system of a head coach. Interesting agreement.

I was amused to see that when Oregon’s offense did something stupid in the loss to Oregon State, people would post “dilly dilly” on the ATQ game thread.

PS: RIP Mike Leach. What a unique character; college football will be a lot less fun without him.

Not worried. We’ve seen Beau’s offense up close and he was a disaster the last 3 years at Cal Poly. And Ragle, while a good recruiter in AZ, was essentially tarmac’d last year by Wilcox.

I'm glad Baldwin was brought in; I'm WAY more afraid of Dillingham's approach than Baldwin's. Now, I suspect Dillingham will have his fingers in the dough, but still. Ragle's recruiting in AZ worries me less than if he were recruiting AZ guys for, say, Stanfurd, as many of those AZ guys were going to end up at ASU anyway. Fingers crossed our new hires plumb the portal mightily (well THAT sounds wrong....).....

As long as Baldwin keeps his playbook closed we should be fine.

It seems like with all the re-loading and re-arming of offenses in the Pac-12 that Cal could get left behind. Instead, we've reached back like the ghost of Christmas past to resurrect a former Cal OC who basically gets to do the same job as before. Spavital should be solid but the O-Line coach better be a home run hire if we are getting to the next level. Hopefully he'll be bloesching and ploughing the field with manhandled opposing D-linemen.

Charlie Ragle as ST coordinator... meh.

Charlie Ragle as recruiter.... oh goodness.

With "The Palm Walk" in hand as a recruiting card now.

It will be interesting to see if the Baldwin/Dillingham combo start clicking right out of the chute at ASU next season. If so, it would cast a dark shadow back to Wilcox and his complete ineptitude on that side of the ball. It's one of the reasons I think hiring head coaches with a mastery of offense works better in the Pac 12. I believe Troy Taylor's offense at Stanford will start looking scary very soon. And look at what Mike Leach (RIP) did at WSU when he hired Alex Grinch as his DC. Took an already explosive offensive team to an 11-win season just like that.

Good hires. The bottom of the Pac has leveled up coaching-wise (including us). Next year will be interesting.

Make it or break it for Wilcox next year, wouldn’t you say? Maybe not job wise just yet because of that unconscionable contract extension Knowlton gave him, but perception-wise, that O needs to show progress. It may not result in wins, because the schedule is brutal, but his hires have gotta show something to build some momentum for ‘24.

Since Wilcox came on board, Colorado, Arizona, Stanford, Wazzu, UW, ASU and USC have ALL bottomed out and regained some cache with new hires while Cal has stagnated. This is it.

I'd imagine so. Hiring Spavital is Wilcox pulling out all the stops. Gotta hit the portal hard.

I swear, it feels like every Pac team is auditioning for the B1G. Lol

I was initially skeptical of the Spavital hire as a desperation move, but after processing some WFC interactions, I’m more on board with it…I like the Bloesch hire and the Boise State dude.

Now we just need some horses…oh portal be kind….

Thanks Avi.

Dillingham will turn that program around quickly…ASU bowls next year. Book it!
