Nothing will ever beat the 82-2001 era for me as far as clean, simple, and classy, which was really just bringing back the old school original solid color scheme in the first place. That being said, these new ones look like the 82-2001 era and Mike White/Roger Theder era uniforms had a baby, and it seems like it’s intentional, and I’m ok with it.
I had to periodically write them and find out when they were getting more. Getting this hat has been somewhat of a quest because like you, I couldn’t find them anywhere either and I live out of state so online is my only option. I ordered the Under Armour version initially but the crown was too tall and the student store hadn’t received the On Field Nike collection stuff yet. I think they finally came in February of this year.
The new look is awesome! I just hope that they come up with some good head wear for fans. I did like the offerings from Under Armor but none of it seemed to be readily available.
I liked the Sather stripe. The broken line may have been a bit much, but the bold-thin-thin-bold pattern felt unique. Pull the helmet off these and I couldn't tell you the difference from West Virginia.
Under Armour was always a terrible option! Never like many of the styles. Glad we are back to Nike one of the best clothing/uniform options from head to toe! You could give me Joe Roth uniforms every game and I would be jazzed!
To my surprise I decided to give them an A. I'm a fan of a classic, clean look where the colors pop. I almost dropped a grade just because I don't like the blue on blue, no contrast/pop. I like dropping the Sather stripe and returning to a something that doesn't look like a misprint. Also, the gold pants look better than expected as a contrast to either white or blue jerseys...
"Gave it a "C" because it looks pretty standard and similar to what we've had in the past." - Pretty standard? Agreed... Similar? Agreed... but I think that's why I give it a higher grade. I'm ready for standard and similar... maybe classic and continuity better describe my feelings.
"Why does this make me so happy??????" - Dunno but it does make me kinda happy no matter how it looks!

Negabear in me: Grade C. I wouldn't have really noticed a difference if you didn't feature it. Heck, I don't really notice the difference despite your highlighting it.
Sunshine bear in me: "C" can stand for Cal! (I still wouldn't have noticed a difference)
Biggest plus for me is the new stripes on the arms and pants. Great change! Not a huge fan of the retro C unis, hopefully they only use these for one game.
Hello, thank for the link , but unfortunately they are out of stock when I just checked it out… hopefully they will restock in the future!

Where can you find fitted “C” hats? Can’t find them anywhere.

West Virginia doesn't seem to have stripes. lol

I like these a lot. Good riddance to the "Sather Stripes". F Under Armour
I'm an Old Blue at this point so might have conservative tastes. But I friggin' love 'em!
I gave the changes a B. Mostly minor, nothing horrific but a little safe.

A lot of minor refreshes of a fairly conservative uniform. It's fine but nothing most of us will even notice at games.
I like that the "gold" has morphed subtly toward more of a gold tone and away from a yellow tone.
Three weeks shy of a year after this foreboding post:
"Cal releases statement on Arizona, ASU, Utah looking to Big 12, Oregon & Washington to B1G
The Pac-12 Conference is dead. Who knows where Cal ends up.

...we are voting on how we like the new uniforms with the ACC logo. That's progress.
