I think new and really good OC and offensive staff, coupled with a softer schedule than last year, should net us at least 8 wins. Remember we were 9 points from four additional wins and we gave up 25 in the 4th quarter against Miami cause we couldn’t keep our offense on the field. Hopefully the close ones go our way this year.

Rugbear, you might be the one person who out-sunshine pumps me. I’m glad I can count on that!

Ha! Yup! I used to go to CAL games as a little kid with my brother and my Dad while he was in the Architecture program at CAL. As I grew up and got big physically and started playing Pop Warner football and then high school ball, I always dreamed of playing for CAL. I turned down 12 other offers to become a Golden Bear, among them were UW and Tennessee and some other larger schools. I bleed blue and gold and LOVE my Golden Bears and never looked back. Roll on!! I'll pump sunshine till there ain't none!

Hey, this prediction game was fun! I think we have a good chance of winning the first game of the season in Corvallis. I am looking forward to seeing how all these changes play out at game time. I am ready for some college football. Go Bears!

I think so, too, but they have a good QB. We can't give him time to throw.

Yes, he is good. And some moves on their OL, appear to make them better than last year too. It will be a first look at the DL pressure and how the new DBs perform.

the new DB's will determine a lot of what will happen this year on D. Here's hoping they can perform as will as last year's.

The more that I worked through this, the more confident I grew that Cal *could* surprise this season. Of course, it would require the offense to gel rapidly, the coaching to improve, particularly in close games, and the defense to continue to hold up its end. There are plenty of winnable contests here, however, and some of the tougher games are at home.

I have us with one win (Texas Southern) one loss (SMU) and ten I-have-no-frickin'-ideas. I've never felt this in the dark about the Bears' prospects for a season. I look forward to/dread whatever surprises await.

Predicting This year's win/loss record is a complete dart board exercise. Even gauging the OSU and SDSU (new PAC 12) game outcomes is a crap shoot.

In addition to Cal, most of their opponents are also cases where more factors are completely unknown than not.

Exactly! The transfer portal has provided an amazing amount of uncertainty to betting sites and fans alike. I think the best we can say for the GB's right now is the OL is much improved...

I'm going to wait to see what happens at OSU before I make a prediction.

I came up w 7 wins…..one short of what JW needs, I think. I predicted winning at OSU, which did NOT take into account that I’ll be there, so that should sufficiently jinx the whole thing…..

15-0. And after we win the natty we are going to gang tackle Paul Finebau* and take a big steaming dump on his head.

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is. But they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.”

How many falls will break this Golden Bears team?
