This sucks! I thought it was odd that Brooks wasn't #1 from the start of the year. I thought he was clearly the better overall back & he appeared to be healthy all year. One time Cal commit, Adrian Martinez, has entered the transfer portal and is considering between Kansas St. & Cal.
Isn't it the case that for many players they either can't get into graduate programs at Cal or Cal doesn't offer a program of interest to them? Or are there other sorts of "graduate" certificates and programs that have been developed that have a lower entry bar? I wish Brooks all the best and he will always be a Golden Bear!
IIRC correctly, Cal has developed a graduate degree that many athletes can apply for. I seem to recall it is through the business school, I just don't recall what the emphasis is. Perhaps someone has a better memory than I? Could be that Chris and others don't have an interest in it. Collin Moore, IIRC, was in it this year.
I wish we could do away with these ruses. The reality is that football is its own instructional program, akin to say music. Just call it what it is and let them directly enroll in the football instructional program.
Ugh. Criminally underused. If he just had 20 touches a game, we're probably at least 8-4 instead of 5-7. Best of luck to him - hopefully he'll join a team that will let him showcase his abilities to the fullest.
I don’t know; seems he had his opportunities this season and mad w a lot out of them. Maybe true on UW game, but no reason to think the guy w the ball couldn’t score either…..
Oof, this one hurts. Guess we have to expect a higher-than-normal level of transfers with all the extra eligibility and crowded position groups piling up.
This one hurts though because he was my favorite RB. Wish him the best of luck (at a school not playing Cal next year).
This, how crowded is it really, especially since we do not currently have a RB commit. Moore seemed to be injured or in the dog house due to fumbles. Dancy is graduating. DCB didn’t get many Carrie’s, same with the younger backs.
Outside of cleaning up ball security, I think Moore has peaked. He has talent that can't be taught (vision and instincts), but also is missing a talent that can't be learned (speed). A peaked Moore is still a good back though.
Being able to pass protect as a running back is extremely important in the NFL. That combined with his hard, power running I think gives him a shot to make an NFL roster.

His girlfriend is a soccer player at K-State. I think the odds are he'll transfer there
This means he'll fumble the decision and go to Kansas.
Dang, and (some) commentators were just figuring out his name change.
Gonna happen a bunch this year unfortunately...I really enjoyed watching Chris, and he was a helluva weapon in the passing game for a big back.

it's the masters in public health (Davis Webb, for example was in the program -https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/ncaa/how-texas-made-quarterback-davis-webb-fell-love-berkeley)
no it is not. There is a specific 1 year grad business certificate. The MPH program is a legit 2 year program which Davis Webb did not complete.
Our MPH program is one of top ones in the world. It’s not some bozo faux degree.
There are also one-year graduate certificates: https://grad.berkeley.edu/program-proposals/proposing-certificate/certificate-guidelines/
From what I remember, a lot of returning seniors are in an entrepreneurship certificate program.
Bingo, this was the one I was trying to recall, ty.

Then they can go to class and learn the playbook.

Give him the ball at the goal line against UW and we are probably 6-6.
Damn, I'll miss Brooks. Helluva back and I always enjoyed how tough he ran with the ball.

But how crowded is it really? We do not have a commit at RB for this cycle. Doesn't look all that crowded atm. What did we lose this year, 3 RB's?
With CB34 gone, we will have 4 RBs return next year.
Brooks, Moore, Street, and Stredick will all be juniors.
We don't have any freshman or HS recruits this year.

nor did we have a RB commit last year. The staff threw all their eggs ibn the Cardwell basket only for him to go to Oregon.
With Cristobal gone, maybe it's time for him to transfer!
Sad, but I kinda felt this was coming
U sorta gotta call that shot, don’t you?
