It’s common for red shirt juniors or seniors to walk before their final season especially if they only have a semester to go. It leaves spring open for NFL training or going into the workforce.
No way Cam would leave, hes a total program guy and thinks of himself as a leader and mentor to the young guys. Hes also a 3yr starter, not a guy listed as a 3 position player lol
He could just be doing his graduation ceremony this year with his class but still have a few more classes to complete to earn his degree. I did something similar when I attended Cal. I studied abroad I’m the fall of my senior year and came back to Cal in spring of my senior year and graduated with my friends and classmates. However, by studying abroad I had to come back for the fall semester after graduation to complete my degree due to me needing to complete a couple classes that that they did offer abroad.
Maybe he is doing something similar. Which would make sense because then after the football season ends (if we have one) he can be done with school and just concentrate on trainIng for the NFL combine and draft.
The transfer portal is a (relatively) new thing and very public process. It is required to register to even have the *option* to play. Graduates like Ugeogu, Deon White, Ricky Walker, Gabe Siemieniec who have graduated and are unlikely to play college ball again do it, but you never know. Other guys who didn't stick with Cal (Jasper Friis, Jack Newman) - these are the ones that are true transfers. And obviously the kicked-out (Ogunbanjo, Castles) need to register.
The washouts and graduates under the old system still happened all the time, you just didn't hear about it much because it wasn't in the media cycle.
Hope he gets to play at Illinois and avoids the injury bug.
Cam Bynum posted graduation photos on his social...do you think he's grad transferring too?

Oh lord nooooo! I can live without Chinedu (no disrespect), but Cam leaving would REALLY bum me out! : /

TIL Castles was "kicked out" - I thought he left on his own.
You know, I might have misremembered that. Thanks for the correction.
That'd be Gabe Cherry.
No. Get facts straight.
We live in a post facts world.
