Oski is the Soul of California. The spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal, possessing emotional or intellectual energy or intensity. He is the Cal Bear.
I am a Bear/Geography rebel. I want to state that Wojtek the Bear is a Cal mascot!
For those who don't know, Wojtek was a bear adopted by the Polish II Corps when they were training in Palestine in WWII (after being released from the Gulags by Stalin after the German invasion of USSR). The bear travelled with the artillery component and once fully grown helped the artillerymen carry munitions to the guns. He served in Italy, notably in the Battle of Monte Cassino! He was given the rank of Corporal and a paybook, the soldiers would feed him Vodka (cause of course).
Love Wojtek! How can you beat a mascot that was not only an actual mascot in a real war, but an actual soldier that made a real contribution in battle!
California. Definitely a California bear, any California bear, past or present. hat said, I agree with Ron as to Oski's Yogi antecedents, although I still think he's male; women are seldom that silly.
Oscar aligns squarely in the Yogi Bear demographic. Why would we want to meddle with a formula that has worked for eons? Moreover, Oski is arguably nonbinary. Why change?
A more important question is what “Cal” should be called. With the advent of the “Army West Point” monicker, Cal/Berkeley is the only school with different athletic and academic identities.
Should have included the sloth bear. I am very disappointed in you 😛😘
Ursus arctos californicus. Never mind we killed them all off.
Paddington is Oski with raincoat and bucket hat. Prove me wrong
I haven't seen marmalade sandwiches as a Memorial Stadium option.
Then again, you only make a game once every 4-5 years
Once a year!
I'm somehow surprised we haven't seen Oski in a bucket hat already
OSKI IS the Cal mascot!
Yes, but what IS he exactly? What is an Oski? Maybe that's a mystery better left unsolved . . .

Well, also, which Oski?
All the options presented actually appear to be significant upgrades!

At the risk of stealing valor from the 22nd artillery company, that logo would make for an awesome shirt

All this time I thought it was a black bear on the flag of California or our school mascot / logo.
We Bare Bears are Cal's mascot...if nothing else, Ice Bear would kick Paddington's ass. There, I said it.

What does Kodiak think?
