The California Golden Bears (0-1) travel to Fort Worth, Texas, this week to face off against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs (1-0) of the Big 12 Conference on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 2:30 p.m. Central.
The Golden Bears will be motivated to make a statement victory in Week Two after starting the 2021 college football season last week with a 17-22 loss against the Nevada Wolf Pack at home.
Cal fans will likely pay special attention to redshirt senior California quarterback Chase Garbers. The last time the two schools met, a 7-10 Cal loss in overtime in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl, Garbers disappointed, throwing fewer than 100 yards and three interceptions.
Saturday’s match-up against TCU is California's second-ever game against the Horned Frogs.
Last week, TCU blew out the Duquesne Dukes of the Northeast Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision, 45-3, at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Earlier this week, sportsbook oddsmakers set the betting line as California +10 with a 49 total. The California Golden Bears are 10-point underdogs against the TCU Horned Frogs in Week Two of the 2021 college football season.
The Cal v. TCU betting line has since moved to California +11 and a 47 and one-half total for over-and-under point-total bets, as of Friday, Sept. 10, according to VegasInsider.com, an aggregator of legal sportsbook operators in Las Vegas and around the country.
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson has never lost to a Pac-12 team.
In a press conference this week, Coach Patterson said he fell asleep watching Cal v. Nevada.

Not on topic, but just happened to see on YouTube (they push me Cal links as I am sucker to always click on them) a good talk to our team today in Texas on the football field by Justin Forsett. His speech can be seen below in the first link below.
In his short speech, Forsett told the team he roomed with Marshawn Lynch at Cal. Didn't realize how very close they were in the years they attended Cal. Forsest was at Cal for the four seasons 2004 - 2007. So he backed up Arrington and Lynch (also a freshman) in 2004, and Lynch in 2005 and 2006. Lynch left Cal after his junior year. So in 2006 Forsett had to wait till 2007, his senior year, to really show how good he was, though he had over 100 carries and good rushing yards in 2005 and 2006. See the stats shown in Wikipedia below.
Go Bears! (I would write something here but don't want to get the Horned Frogs riled up, just to be safe).
