so TCU scored 21 in the 2nd Q and fell further behind... hmmm...

OldSoCalBear's avatar

this auburn / arkansas game is a repeat of the cheez int bowl

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Auburn is robbing us of the glory of our win.

But Freeze may just be proven right about Thorne.

KJ1980's avatar

UCLA and USC are doing old Pac 12 proud against big league opposition on the road. Cal will be next! Go Bears! A win will be a birthday present for Oski!

CamHand's avatar

Utah and OK State suddenly playing give away

Bowlesman 80's avatar

I just saw a UCLA ad. What the Hell does it mean, "Tuition Free"?

CamHand's avatar

Dunno but UCLA admissions page says 45% of students pay no tuition thanks to schollies etc... FWIW

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Maybe it was an enticement for athlete recruitment. Might even be a conference policy, as I noted on a SEC ad.

KJ1980's avatar

Trojans getting slammed by Michigan. That does not make me sad

Bowlesman 80's avatar

*Schadenfreude intensifies

CamHand's avatar

But can it really? I mean mine has been at peak for a while now... though maybe if it does intensify I'll know it wasn't actually peak...

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Like the players, we Bears all need to stretch beyond our limits.

CamHand's avatar

Hmmm... and for now USuCk is ahead... Kinda removes any incentive to try and enflame my schadenfreude but hopefully they'll still lose in dramatic fashion.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

NOw Big Blue is threatening.

Time for the Cal game.

Go Bears1

KJ1980's avatar

Clemson has an offense

KJ1980's avatar

UCLA is playing LSU tough in 1Q

GoldenSD81's avatar

North Carolina looks terrible.

dcblue's avatar

Just got home from a dental appointment and surfing through the games on TV. I almost couldn’t believe the score. I see a fair number of JMU shirts and hats around and may see more in the future.

Maestro's avatar

Only fitting they are getting a beat down by the Dukes....

GoldenSD81's avatar

NC State looks terrible.

goldenone's avatar

Both UNC and NC State are terrible

AndyPanda's avatar

Jim Madison has put 53 on North Carolina, and the first half isn't over yet. Most points ever by JMU in a first half. NC is on their 3rd QB already this season, but that's not a defensive issue. Wonder how Mack Brown will spin this?

GoldenSD81's avatar

Will North Carolina opt of the running clock or the shortened quarters in the second half?

Who is the soon to be unemployed DC at North Carolina?

CamHand's avatar

I dunno but I bet his jersey number was 70 when he played. JMU putting up 70!?!? (including the above mentioned 53!!! ... yikes ...)

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Thought:

How about on campus watch parties that can be streamed in a feed to the team for away games that so few students could hope to travel to?

OldSoCalBear's avatar

Did anyone see if Gameday guys picked the FSU/Cal game? 5/6 of them just picked Arkansas over Auburn. Can't pick anyone who lost to Cal, right?

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Nick Saban loves us for obvious reasons.

goldenbrewer's avatar

I have a sinking feeling the ACC is going to be really mid this year. That may be good for us in the short term, as it could mean an easier path to a winning season. But I think we are also going to see a very low ranked conference champ, and almost certainly we won't be getting more than one team into the playoff.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Wilcox better get at least 8 wins this season and have a winning ACC record. If he slouches to 6-6 he needs to be fired immediately.

Rae Moulton's avatar

Curious to see how Ben Finley fares today vs. the Gamecocks. He was on-point last week for Akron, with four touchdown throws and over 350 passing yards.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

That is interesting.

Maybe Spav was part of his problem.

GoldenSD81's avatar

People in this thread are trying to put Oski Disciple into therapy with all the rooting for Stanford last night.

Justbear's avatar

I think Oski Discipline didn't read my comment that said I'm rooting for Syracuse.

AndyPanda's avatar

Before you know it, someone will even be pleased when Washington or USC beats a team from back east. I would list UCLA as well, but it doesn't look like that's something that will have to be worried about soon.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Whoa, I wouldn’t go that far. I think most Cal fans will be very pleased with every USC and UCLA loss from now to forever.

OldSoCalBear's avatar

I'm auto-liking everything he posts, no matter what

GoldenSD81's avatar

Same, out of solidarity.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Simple.

Offset with burnt offerings to Dark Oski.

"We were only experimenting, Dark One."

goldenone's avatar

Well that's the end of Syracuse being ahead of us in the power rankings. McCord was supposed to be the second coming but he kept throwing the ball to Furd. Also the Coug Spartan game was good but SJSU Coug'd it or choked at the end. Should have won. Their WR Nash will be playing on Sundays.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

We need to win, today to stay ahead of Syracuse.

AndyPanda's avatar

Cougs all but Coug it several times, but come behind to beat Spartans 54-52 in double ot. #PacLongAfterDark and in Pullman lives on.

Clbear's avatar

The WSU SJSU game is proper Pac 12 After Dark.

CalPete's avatar

For the first time in my life, I find myself rooting for 'furd. After surviving near death together and being newcomers to the ACC, I feel like we need to make a good showing to our new conference hosts.

GlueAndBold's avatar

It's transitive respect for us, particularly when we crush them 45-3 for the Axe

CalPete's avatar

Yes, this as well. Want them to win and then want us to beat them to make our win look better. :)

Oski Disciple's avatar

We do, they don't. I hope they finish 2-10.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Random Furdie as I drove through the parking lot.

"F*** Cal."

My answer should have been:

"$C beat ya' to it."

Strut’88's avatar

Troy Taylor, one of my favorite Golden Bears as a player. So, happy for him anyway.

goldenone's avatar

Yup. Sad to say I was halfheartedly rooting for Furd because neither Cal nor Stanford is getting any respect

Oski Disciple's avatar

Not half nor even a millionth of my heart would ever want Furd to win. What has happened to Bear Territory?

GoldenSD81's avatar

Near program ending event and relegation to the Mountain West will change a fan base.

Oski Disciple's avatar

Yeah, evidently for the worse.

CalPete's avatar

I believe they helped save our program but advocating on our behalf to get us into the ACC.

OldSoCalBear's avatar

SJSU trying to make the case that they belong in the new P12, up two TDs on wazzu

Rae Moulton's avatar

Man, the Spartans were gamers in this one. Their defense faltered late and Brown made an ill advised throw that ushered the Cougs back into the game with minutes left to go. But wow, SJSU has offensive fire power. It will be interesting to see where they stack up in the Mt. West by season’s end. It’s sad they’re looking like another casualty of realignment, in spite of their recent football success.

AndyPanda's avatar

WSU & SJ St playing a great game. 24-24 in the 3rd qtr.

AndyPanda's avatar

Stanford wins on a game ending field goal. Good thing Cal's game tomorrow is a late game; Oski Disciple is going to need every minute of the extra time to recover.

CamHand's avatar

I can't believe I'm saying this... yay furd...?

I never red shirts. I never hug trees... what has happened to me...?

Bowlesman 80's avatar

"Relax, Cam, it's Calfurd Town."

CamHand's avatar

Thanks! That actually makes me feel better for some reason ... even though it reminds me how much I dislike The Two Jakes...

Oski Disciple's avatar

Silly me. I thought this was a Cal site but I see that is rife with Furdies. No self-respecting Golden Bear fan would root for the Tree. This is hugely disappointing. F*ck Stanfurd and Go Bears forever.

Macarolina's avatar

Oski Disciple, you stand strong in these crazy realignment times. Go Bears!

Daddy's avatar

Come on trees rep the almost pac leftovers

Daddy's avatar

It is but I want the big game to be big.

Oski Disciple's avatar

It's a rivalry, it's always big.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

And Furdies will turn on us if it's in their interest, so, there's that, too.

Justbear's avatar

That was a beautiful slant

Justbear's avatar

I'm starting to root for Syracuse

cheeksbossman's avatar

Anyone going to the Berkeley bars to watch the game tmw?

Justbear's avatar

Didn't know Marvin Harrison played for Syracuse

GoldenSD81's avatar

I feel like they always have an elite kicker.

Justbear's avatar

That's a nice third down conversion. We need that play.

Bowlesman 80's avatar

McCord going for the Peyton Thorne Award.

McCord the wunderkind- Fail

Bowlesman 80's avatar

What was the line on this game?

Bearly Rational's avatar

But also, both these teams feel very winnable. I thought FState, Clem and Miami were top tier, then Syracuse, BC, NC State, then the rest. Not to be a sunshine pumper, but I’m feeling pretty good on this season, and we are not even full strength!! Get ott, our 2 wide outs and a healthy line …. Lfgoooooobears

Justbear's avatar

I thought Syracuse QB was supposed to be good. He keeps throwing interceptions

CalFLa12's avatar

I even put money on FUrd, felt strange but let's go!

Oski Disciple's avatar

You must do penance for this heinous act.

AndDriveDriveDrive's avatar

I’m sitting here clapping at the “Furd pick 6. What is wrong with me? What have I become?

Oski Disciple's avatar

Whatever it is you need to fix it.

Justbear's avatar

Wow stanfurd looks like Alabama

Justbear's avatar

Never mind. More like Wazzu

Justbear's avatar

Okay so this is the ACC commercial

Bowlesman 80's avatar

Is the ACC waking up that we are not the new cupcakes?

Wow. Note to self: Don't sleep on the Furd game.

Bearly Rational's avatar

Stanfurd looks good. Love that they’re whipping the orange, as there’s been absolutely no respect for Cal/Furd. Should be a good big game. Hope they shock the acc and win out … except for the golden bears, who will pound them and retain the axe. Feels weird to root for furd.

Oski Disciple's avatar

Furd doesn't deserve respect.

abqbear's avatar

I am rooting for Furd as well....it's a strange feeling.

Oski Disciple's avatar

Strange feeling because it's wrong.

OldSoCalBear's avatar

I was about to say they looked good too

oops

AndDriveDriveDrive's avatar

Feels weird rooting for ‘Furd but here I am.

Oski Disciple's avatar

Of course it feels wrong, it's one of the most anti-Cal things you can do.

Daddy's avatar

Same ever sense the pac12 collapse my dream is Cal in Furd playing for the ACC championship. Then bears beating them 58-0

Oski Disciple's avatar

My dream is for Furd to go winless.

BTown85's avatar

Just to be sure my juju is properly directed, I can root for ‘Cuse and be rooting for “our conference” right? No reason to root for Furd?

Bowlesman 80's avatar

I'm rooting for Furd. They lump us together.

They better they get, they better we all look.

BTown85's avatar

Ok, gotta admit I find myself rooting for former Pac12 teams (except UCLA….and USC)

AndDriveDriveDrive's avatar

I’m tepidly for Washington and Oregon. I root against Colorado because they drove the final knife in. The rest I can cheer for.

KJ1980's avatar

Go Bears! FSU beware.

Craig's avatar

Two colors battling it out tonight will be great.

goldenone's avatar

Furd will be wearing red helmets for the first time ever.

AndyPanda's avatar

Hard to get used to. Makes them look like some other team. Which might be good in the overall scheme of things.

GoldenSD81's avatar

I am surprised they haven’t worn red helmets before.
