I think you're all right, which is to say nobody knows. Mostly I agree with Christopher when he says: "this is the first season I can remember since attending Cal that I'm not drunk off the Cal Flavor-Aid in the preseason."
It’s good to see that some of us have finally sobered up a bit going into this year. Now prove us wrong again Justin, but in the other direction this time!
A 10-2 prediction for a team of unknowns is Calimo-level sunshine pumping. However, I'm hoping you are right Rob, just to show the ACC that we should not be rated the 15th best team in the conference.
I like ALL of your takes, given the unpredictability. Unpredictability, I think, is a GREAT thing... considering the predictability that has plagued the Justin Wilcox era.
This could be the sneaky best year of said era. Considering the soft schedule, the new life breathed into the program a la Lyons & Rivera, LLC, then a potentially underrated portal class and a very good offensive coaching staff -- and brain trust of Harsin & Rolovich, Inc.
I honestly cant remember the last time I pumped sunshine before a season opener.
Yeah, I am feeling that way too. Though today on a walk, I got to thinking about this season's trope-ist statements from the team, commenters etc. concerning the "fixes/improvements" such as....faster execution of plays, tough, rough, smart, xyz etc.
And I said to myself....well duh, hard to believe they were coached and executed without that in mind, forefront the past seasons.
My worst dream and nightmare: It would be unbelievably amazing and the ultimate cruelty for Cal to start 5-0 (!!!) and then run the table winless for the remainder of the season.
We have DE Jesus on our side, so 9 wins

15-0

Now we know that Rob Hwang's other handle is Remember-the-Calimo!!! GoBears!
Say what now

Again, RR says 8-9 wins is success. Less is failure and a new coach will be hired. He knows more than me, so I say 8-9 wins.

“I just can't shake the feeling that if JKS balls out that he'll end up elsewhere for more money or whatever”
+1
Well see....there are some super wealthy Old Blues
