Geez, what a relief. Now that I know these essential data points I can climb down out of the first game of the season anxiety tree and walk upright, more or less. Thank you so much for the reset!
I like the graph of the Conference Championships since the 2000's best. Bar Graphs never lie (however, the Berkeley bar could have been infinite compared to 0 conf championships for the Baby Bears). One graph you missed is Best Fight Song. Cal has "Big C", and UCLA has "Sons of Westwood", a very poor copy of Big C. GO (real) BEARS!
C's get degrees indeed! Most proud grade I got at Cal was in Chem 1A my first semester at Cal. I got a C+ and did better than average in a room of 300 super smart students. I also took Physics 8A and got an A in that class. Newtonian physics always makes sense to me.
Back to football: what a nice analytical way to say Go Bears!
Unfortunately a slight correction - the LA Zoo in Griffith Park has a new bear so the closest bear is only 23 miles to Westwood.
I will also note that I was excellent at Math from kindergarten all the way through Math 1A. Math 1B is definitely where I tapped out and hit the limits of my understanding - which is really dumb because I am a social sciences grad! I should have taken the 16A/B track if I wanted to keep a somewhat technical track option open, not the STEM weeder class. I am dumb.
Unlike most here, I am still not at the level of math required to understand all these sophisticated graphs. I had to run the data analytics through Claude Fable 5. Unfortunately, I can't spend too much time going over the results right now, but from what I've seen so far, I love it.
ESPN ran 1 million simulations of CFB 2026-2027...
and THIS:
Simulation No. 31,929: ACC living the dream
I wanted to find a scenario in which we get an all-ACC national title game that doesn't feature Miami. Because a million simulations is a whole lot of simulations, we got one! Unbeaten Cal beats Virginia Tech in the ACC title game, takes down No. 11 UNLV and No. 3 Notre Dame in the CFP before again meeting Virginia Tech in the national title game. Tosh Lupoi and Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele: national champions.
Come here for the best writing on Cal football. Stay here for the sophisticated and compelling visual data analytics!

Another one: Number of Athletics Directors
UC L.A. just fired theirs and has no permanent AD. Cal has THREE!

I always loved the views of campus (I see you, I-House) from Memorial Stadium which has never been a feature of the Rose Bowl.

those responsible for the error have been fired. we apologize.
Mynd you, moose bites Kan be pretti nasti...
That poor little bear, having to live 23 miles from Westwood. But, little Bear, don't worry, Oski will teach you how to say "Go Bears!"
Distance to Nearest Bear? The data speaks for itself.

speaking of stats.

cue in dr. strange holding up one finger
cue in lloyd - so you mean there is a chance...
It great to statistically prove what we all intuitively have known since the dawn of time itself. Thank you! And Go Bears!
