As always, the Bears have been written off before we take the field.
Cal is undefeated and Notre Dame is winless, injured, and without purpose? It doesn’t matter; Notre Dame is favored by 11.5 points.
Under Wilcox, Cal has walked into hostile environments and walked away victorious? It doesn’t matter; not a single national media figure has picked Cal to win today.
Under Armour gives Cal and Notre Dame the same amount of money in their respective deals? It doesn’t matter; Notre Dame gets as many uniform combinations as they like while Under Armour tries to cut Cal off with a blunt knife.
Cal fits the Big Ten’s mission? It doesn’t matter; they’ll bend over backwards to try to get an uninterested Notre Dame.
It is a total lack of respect to think that a Bear will sit and take a beating without fighting back. It is a total lack of respect to think that Cal will not bring this game down to the final seconds of the 4th quarter. It is a total lack of respect to think that Cal’s potential is lesser than Notre Dame’s.
Today, we prove that we want to win this game more than they do. We prove this game matters more to us than it ever could to them. Today, Cal returns to the national stage.
Go Bears!
I predict this game will go one of three ways: 1. ND will finally realize their potential and come out and play like the team everyone thought they were, we come out nervous and flat, and they roll us; 3. ND plays well and we play well and its a battle to the end and they win a close one but we show the world we are ready to be on stage; 3. ND shows up ready to play but so do we and we come out with attitude and hit them in the mouth on the opening kickoff setting the tone that we will not be fucked with. We win a close tough game that the national audience loves and we finally get the reputation that Wilcox has been promising. I'm hoping for #3. Roll on!!
I spent a long time looking for one god dam pundit to give the bears any respect. Everybody just shitting on them and making excuses for notre dame. I don’t care how it happens, but these bears need to come home with the Win. Go Bears!
