It was important for Coach Wilcox to make a decision fast at the OC position with the December 5th transfer portal opening as well as the early signing day on the 20th.
"Mike Bloesch has made a huge impact in his first season with our program, and we are excited to give him the opportunity to make an even greater impact moving forward," Wilcox said. "Mike has proven himself to be a versatile and skilled coach, as well as an excellent recruiter. It's easy to see why Mike has risen so quickly through the ranks to become one of the nation's top young coaches and recruiters."
The strength of the Cal offense last year, despite it’s Air-Raid heritage, was the punishing and effective run game spearheaded by the much improved OL. Thus it was imperative to hold-onto the architect of the run game and the OL coaching, elevating Coach Bloesch to that position is viewed as a no-brainer within the Cal community.
"I'm excited about this opportunity and prepared for it," Bloesch said. "We have taken strides to becoming a great football program this season, and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish down the road. I want to win championships, and I want to win them at Cal."
What remains for Coach Bloesch is to assemble his own offensive staff: will he retain WR Coach Toler and RB Coach Thompson, or will he only replace the open spots at TE and QB coaching.
Do what everyone else who is successful at this time is doing.
1. Spend money. The reality is sports is about money. Not about academics. I think we can all agree that we don’t care if the players are on all academic team of the year. And for those that do. This is not the place for you. Sure it’s great to have good grades. But that doesn’t win games.
2. Stop hiring HC that are tier 3 or 4. Hire top talent. No I'm not talking about River Boat Ron. He isn’t a winner. Look at his professional record. It’s shockingly bad.
3. As fans and supporters. Stop being satisfied with a win over Stanford and being mediocre. As a team.
Stop being excited about going to a crappy bowl. The Independence Bowl is’it exciting. There is a reason it’s played on 12/16 and not the week after Christmas. No one is watching it or attending it. Check ticket prices if you think I’m wrong. I think I saw 50 yard line tickets for $50.
4. As a school. And student base. Instead of protesting and demanding other countries to do things. Especially when you have zero clue what happens in the real world. Have that much passion about sports. If they are important to you. Demand the athletic Department do something about that state of our teams with that same passion and enthusiasm.
4. For God’s sake. Tear down the stadium. It sucks. All of it. From parking to the Game day experience. Not sure how many stadiums you have been to around the country. But our Gameday experience is embarrassing. Compared to a majority of the ones I’ve been to. It’s time to do something different.
5. Convince the fan base to come back to the games. Football and basketball attendance is pathetic.
6. Keep top tier players from leaving the Bay Area and Norther California. Pay them!!! It’s legal now.
6. With all of this comes more revenue. Money to spend.
Class of 97 ahole. Again. Your ignorant ass is too afraid to speak truth. I stand by my statements. Check yourself. Window licker
