Cal Fans Help BART Add Early-Morning Trains to 'College GameDay' in Berkeley
The impact of the Calgorithm knows no bounds.
“BART has announced early trains to College Gameday in Berkeley using a Calgorithm meme” is a sentence that is factually true. This is the world we live in.
(Thanks to Cal Twitter user mpete91 for providing the template for this meme)
There were early concerns about getting to Berkeley that early via public transit, as BART usually does not open early enough for Cal fans to arrive at the College Gameday site in Memorial Glade by 5 to 6 am.
These have now been allayed. Early trains are coming and will start bringing fans to Downtown Berkeley by 5 am, at only specific stations.
And it’s partly in thanks to the Calgorithm!
Alicia Trost, BART’s Chief Communication Officer, had this to say.
The Calgorithm was cited by a chief officer of our region’s top transit service as a reason for early trains, something that has felt impossible for decades.
You can see how conversations on Cal Twitter led to this movement.
It’s just another incredible win for our Cal fans, and the increasing commitment of Cal Twitter to make College Gameday an incredible experience. Our impact knows no bounds, and we have to thank everyone at BART for making this happen.
Stay tuned for more detailed instructions about how best to get to Berkeley. We also recommend checking in on the SFBART account for more details.
I wonder what Joe Starkey would have had to say about this.
I just have to say that this is the most amazing grassroots phenomenon i've ever seen put together by the nerdiest football crowd ever. You guys make the Cal football experience worth sticking around for. Much respect. I'm going to see if i can get the 2 and 4 year old out on campus to catch a bit of gameday, then come back for the game in the evening with friends. Is the Tailgate still at Dwinelle lot?
Even my Texas friends have boarded the Calgorithm train.
