I wonder what Joe Starkey would have had to say about this.

I just have to say that this is the most amazing grassroots phenomenon i've ever seen put together by the nerdiest football crowd ever. You guys make the Cal football experience worth sticking around for. Much respect. I'm going to see if i can get the 2 and 4 year old out on campus to catch a bit of gameday, then come back for the game in the evening with friends. Is the Tailgate still at Dwinelle lot?

Even my Texas friends have boarded the Calgorithm train.

BART needs to run trains past midnight too. The Downtown Berkeley station was an absolute zoo after the Auburn game, and a lot of people weren't able to board just before midnight.

This seems like as good a place as any to mention that there is always parking at the Berkeley High School lots, which are straight down Bancroft from the stadium. It's Bancroft @ Milvia, a block below Shattuck. (And the University has started running shuttles to the stadium from around Oxford, so you can even skip the pleasant walk if you're so inclined.)

Pricing varies by game (time & popularity) but ALL FUNDS BENEFIT BERKELEY HIGH ATHLETICS.

I park my motorcycle on the North side, as there is usually space for bike. Bigger issue is all my riding and safety crap. I have a buddy in Marin, so I'll be staying with him after arriving late Friday night. I won't be able to make the 6am start, but I think I can get there by 7am.

I just decided I could not miss this game/experience. Got my ticket, now figuring out flights and hotel. I’m flying up Friday. Want to help make signs go to the glade and tailgate with you all.

Can anyone recommend a hotel to stay at?

Airbnb may be your best option. Go Bears!

I will arrive Friday night and be at the campus before 6am. Where do I park?

Apparently they are now offering free parking till 11am only at the RSF, lower hearst structure (level II), Ellsworth and genetics garages.

For gameday? So as long as we're out by 11 we're good? Better plan than where I usually park.

We'll see how fast they fill up, but it's great that the school and the BART are helping. I'm so happy that everyone is doing their part to contribute for the best experience.

Hopefully there is still space by 545. I'm shooting for Lower Hearst because it's the closest, but probably others will as well. Then work my way Southside and park in my usual spot if RSF, ellsworth fills up.

I *think* meters don’t start until 9am, in which case you could just leave Game Day a few minutes early? Or park in a residential area around the frats or on the northside. Generally those are two hour, but may have acceptions on game days, so you may also need to leave game day a few minutes early.

Read the residential parking signs carefully -- there are special game day rules and in some 'hoods enforcement has been extended this year to 11:00 pm to account for night games.

Also see my other post -- the Berkeley High Athletic Fund sells parking for all home games at the BHS lots @ Bancroft & Milvia. Proceeds benefit BHS sports teams. (Unfortunately this weekend they have to accommodate school functions until about 2:00 pm, so no 6 a.m. solution there....)

If you leave before 9:00 you'll miss the highlight of the show - Corso putting on the Ibis or Bear head. I think downtown meters are app driven, so you should be able to note the meter number and pay from campus just before 9:00.

I'm partial to the downtown garages. Allston Way garage works for me.

If the Calgorithm can charm and bend campus and Bart bureaucracy, what can’t it to?! In awe of the commitment, will, creativity, sacrifice, and co-partnership of those many folks helping make this culture change happen.

Normally, I drive in from Sacramento, park in the Allston Way garage, then off to the tailgate. This time, I'm staying in Walnut Creek Friday night. Up at 0'dark-thirty to hop on BART. Experience the excitement of College Game Day at Cal on "The Glade". Tailgate with the crew. Then off to experience the magic of a Fall evening in Strawberry Canyon. Then back to my Walnut Creek hotel on BART again for some sweet championship dreams. Thanks, BART! Go Bears!!!

I'll be driving in from Sac at 0'dark-thirty and can park at the Del Norte BART. Already got a hotel right next to there so I don't have to head back exhausted. This solves a huge logistical issue, especially since Berkeley garages don't open that early and street parking is so bad.

I am flying in from SoCal and need a hotel room. Can you say where you are staying? Thank you!
