Cal football 2024 spring practice schedule announced
The California Golden Bears will be returning to Memorial Stadium this spring as they begin their Pac-12 to ACC transition.
The California Golden Bears are returning to Memorial Stadium this spring. It’ll be a very interesting time as Cal will have some significant position battles unfolding that likely start in these scrimmages and conclude in the fall.
Some things are well-known. Jaydn Ott is Cal’s starting running back. Jack Endries has situated himself as a rising tight end to watch out for. Cade Uluave is on his way to being a top linebacker.
There will be a host of interesting position battles at critical spots, particularly along the offensive and defensive line. Cal does have depth in the secondary but there is going to be jostling along the two-deep.
Fernando Mendoza is currently situated as QB1 and is the presumptive favorite to stay there, but Chandler Rogers is expected to step in and compete. There are a host of options to replace Jeremiah Hunter as the top WR, with Trond Grizzell being joined by Tobias Merriweather, Mikey Matthews, and a host of incoming talent. There will be a huge shuffle behind Ott to figure out who the number-two back is.
It’s going to be a spring of movement for the Bears. The ACC beckons. Justin Wilcox, new offensive coordinator Mike Bloesch, and beleaguered defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon have a lot to prove.
Here is the planned schedule. If tradition holds, the majority of these practices will be open, concluding with the Spring Showcase.

In another note, UCLA could legitimately be bottom 3 in the B1G next year.
I attended 2013 Spring game the year Goff early enrolled. He signed my daughter's pink Cal hat as #9. We didn't even think twice about Goff's autograph because Kline was to be our next great QB. That hat has signatures from some other Cal faves such as Bryce Treggs and Avery Sebastian (#WeAllWeGotWeAllWeNeed). Goff would go on to take #16 once it became available in the Fall, but I have not managed to figure out who had #16 at the time Goff signed the hat that Spring? The Cal Website for 2013 lists the Fall roster so I cannot tell who had #16 that Spring. Anyone happen to know who it might have been?
