Cal Football Lands Offensive Lineman Jacob Arop via South Dakota
A huge commitment for the California Golden Bears.
The California Golden Bears have started their 2026 transfer portal in the trenches. Yesterday, they landed the commitment of Texas A&M edge Solomon Williams. Today, it was South Dakota offensive lineman Jacob Arop, who visited Berkeley this past weekend and made the call.
Arop stands at 6-6, 300 pounds. He played in 11 games this season for South Dakota. He earned MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors in South Dakota’s win over South Dakota State. Switching from basketball to football, he is a multisport athlete who has that raw athleticism that could be developed into something special at the right program. With three years of eligibility remaining, this is the type of player Tosh Lupoi seems intent on landing: High upside athletes with their best years ahead.
With Braden Miller, Nick Morrow and Leon Bell all in the transfer portal, landing an offensive tackle talent like Arop is a huge win. As the visits pour in, hopefully the commits will keep coming to offset portal departures.
Welcome to Cal Jacob!
