Cal Linebacker Luke Ferrelli, ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Will Enter Transfer Portal
A very tough loss for the Golden Bears if he decides not to return.
The California Golden Bears suffered perhaps their most significant loss of the transfer portal period when linebacker Luke Ferrelli decided to enter this afternoon. Ferrelli was a standout in Cal’s 2025 campaign, earning ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year honors.
Ferrelli stepped up with injuries to Cade Uluave and Ryan McCulloch, and rotated into the lineup fairly regularly. His biggest moment as a Golden Bear came in locking up Cal’s victory over Boston College.
Ultimately, Cal is going to have some of its top players targeted, so it makes sense that Ferrelli would test the open waters with his stock at its highest.
Other major transfers on the day include defensive end T.J. Bush, offensive tackles Nick Morrow and Leon Bell, quarterback Devin Brown. We’ll have more stories to come, but the transfers are flying fast.
