Cal flips offensive guard Tyson Ruffins from Stanford in the transfer portal
The Bears land an up and coming talent from their archrival.
The California Golden Bears landed a huge offensive line commit and it came in the most satisfying manner possible—they flipped them from Stanford. Welcome to Berkeley, Tyson Ruffins!
Ruffins committed to Stanford a week ago, but after further deliberation decided the Sturdy Golden Bears were the best place for him to be!
Ruffins started nine games in 2024 for Nevada, logging all of his 585 snaps at left guard. He should immediately compete for a starting interior offensive line spot, with starters Rush Reimer and Will McDonald graduating.
Ruffins is one of a trio of offensive linemen to commit this weekend, joining offensive tackle Lajuan Owens from New Mexico and offensive guard Lamar Robinson from Georgia State. New offensive line coach Famika Anae is putting in the early work to try and rebuild the offensive line to the place they need to be in 2025, as Cal continues to land transfer prospects on a crucial weekend for the program’s future.
Raiding Furd for an OL makes me feel happy and Grinchy. Such a critical position.
