Cal Football: Bryan Harsin Officially Announced as New Offensive Coordinator
Cal's 4th OC in as many years, Wilcox's 5th swing at the hire
As speculated earlier, Cal has officially announced the hiring of former Auburn and Boise State HC Bryan Harsin.
"Coach Harsin is one of the best offensive minds in football and we are excited to welcome him to Cal," Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox said. "I have spent several years of my coaching career on the same staff and in the same room with Coach Harsin. He is a proven winner whose record speaks for itself and he will make an immediate impact on our offense and in recruiting."
As discussed by Nick in his column, Harsin has a past history of having effective to highly effective offenses. However, it was brought up that his best days were a decade and more ago. Which in the timeline of college football offensive evolution might as well be centuries.
In the end of the day on offensive coordinator is hired to bring in, coach, develop, and call plays. Can he do it despite taking a 2 year Auburn funded sabbatical from football? Can he push back against the narrative developed during his time at Auburn. Time will tell.
Welcome to Strawberry Canyon Coach Harsin and Family!
Anyone else hate this hire?
He had s e c tablet and really didn't do that much with it at auburn. I have mixed feelings regarding this. Cal needs to fix their offensive line.Because that was their biggest problem this season
