In a surprising turn of events, Jack Plummer entered the transfer portal amidst the chaos of national signing day. Plummer was in his 5th year of eligibility this season for the Bears, so it is entirely possible that this involved an issue regarding graduate programs (that could have been completed this past season).
Plummer threw for 3,095 yards and 21 passing touchdowns this season while throwing 9 interceptions, and even throwing in a rushing touchdown when Cal visited Notre Dame. Plummer was battered behind an inconsistent offensive line, resulting in some nagging injuries throughout the middle portion of the season. Former Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm recently moved over to Lousiville, so this could be a spot to monitor.
Jack gave it his all throughout his year as a Golden Bear and its imperative we recognize that effort regardless of the results. We thank Jack for representing the blue and gold well on and off the field and wish him the best of luck in his football career.
No Plummer. No Millner. Does Cal have a realistic chance at Uiagalelei or Peter Costelli?
I’m probably more surprised about Millner than about Plummer. It seemed like Millner would have fit well into Spavital’s system. Ah well! Go get a QB, JW!
For the actual education, it must be weird when these guys transfer every year. No real continuity to the curriculum, just a random hodgepodge of classes at different schools, with a lot of credits coming from being a D1 athlete and therefore not really applicable to anything
