Tokyo Calympians Full List: Cal again well represented at the Summer Olympic Games
49 Past, Current, and Future Cal Bears will represent 18 countries in 10 sports (at the current count)
Even with Japan understandably reversing its decision to allow domestic fans in the stands for competitions, the delayed “Tokyo 2020” Summer Olympic should still be a spectacle where the elite world athletes come together to compete at the highest level for most of the sports.
With athletes starting to travel to Japan, if not already there under quarantine, the Olympic rosters have become clearer and our list of 2021 “Calympians” should mostly be complete. I will refer to this post in the future and will continue to update this if there is anyone that I have left out (please let me know in the comments below) and/or if an athlete’s status has changed (bumped from reserve status, which is NOT listed here) or decided to pull out at the last minute.
Here is the list of “Tokyo 2020 Calympians” that I will be tracking here on Write For California in the next several weeks. They will be organized first by sports, then by country, last alphabetically.
I also have not given up on writing a short profile for all of the 1st-time Calympians just yet. I will attempt to link those to this page for easier reference during the Games.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THE CALYMPIANS IN TOKYO AND GO BEARS!
The full swimming entrant list has been posted. I have made a couple of minor updates to the event list above for Cal's international swimmers (Quah and Hanson).
I thought Inika McPherson (USA high jumper) was going to make her 2nd Olympic Games after placing 2nd in the US Trials but not clearing the Olympic Standard so not quite clinching a berth. She was passed over by the committee. https://www.panews.com/2021/07/08/inika-mcpherson-looking-for-answers-after-being-left-off-olympic-team/
Not completely depending on the Olympic Trials this year due to COVID concern, was also how Camryn Rogers was able to essentially clinched her Canadian Olympic berth even before she repeated as NCAA Champ. She did not have to go to Montreal for the Trials where there was only one women's hammer throwing competitor.
